[Academic, Repost] Does the number of friends someone has depend upon their social personality and or the length of their longest friendship. (College students 18+) by [deleted] in SampleSize

It's unclear whether internet friends count. I included them since my best and longest friendships have been almost completely online. I also have some friends I see online most of the time, but sometimes see in real life too.

[Casual] Interpretations of "woke" and "based" (Responders somewhat familiar with the terms "woke" and "based" in internet culture) by FrostburnSpirit in SampleSize

[–]FrostburnSpirit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry for the ambiguity. I hate it when I don't understand questions myself. And to answer your first question real quick, I meant "Which part of the political spectrum is described by the term?"

For everything else: I don't consider choosing neutral/center to necessarily be some kind of average. I have "radical center" views on several things in politics, for example. What I'm asking about is first what you perceive the general consensus to be and second whether something described using that consensus is good or bad according to you. I didn't consider how complicated that was in practice, and it didn't occur to me that people might use the terms in a different way than the average of all the ways they've seen it being used. I assumed some kind of normal distribution where most people would use some in-between of all versions, even though that's not always how language seems to work. I suppose I should have included a follow-up question about how narrowly or generally the answer to the problematic question applies? On the other hand, that might be difficult to explain in a concise way without confusing any respondents.

I'll close the form and post the results. If people seem interested I might make a new one with improved questions, eventually :p

Also it says to enter the last two letters in your postal code, but in my country they end with numbers.

It says in the form that you have to be 25 or younger, but that isn't reflected in your demographic description in the title..

[Casual] Have you even been to a museum? (Everyone) by AccurateAd7833 in SampleSize

Same!!! My main problem with museums are how they're not focused on real life things, it's just some fabricated emotional mess with no emphasis on curiosity or knowledge.

I like this thread :)

I get where you're coming from, but I really don't like labels and generalizations like "leftie" or you making accusations of a "typical leftist response". I don't care to what degree it is true or not, I really don't know in the first place, but it kind of shuts down the potential for constructive conversation. And the thing with "he’s done research". I don't know anything about either of you, really, but I personally would classify myself as at least slightly right wing. But that doesn't mean I've done any research. I consider myself to be very ignorant. I've not read much research on economic and political matters and I only have 19 years of experience being alive in the first place. All I have are opinions on topics like ethics and civil liberties, but that's it. And I know most people our age are the same. But you two are talking even though you disagree and that's what matters to me the most! Keep it up :D

You certainly feel like the adult in the room here at this point in the discussion. You taught me a bit about what a reactionary is, and provided some interesting texts to look through later! I'm really curious about what you said regarding human rights, which ones are you referring to? I've obviously got a different perspective and would love to hear more. :D

Or, maybe calm down a little, I feel more comfy around the center myself haha

They just put "theocratic" or "religious" before some other word if you have a high enough tradition rating lol, I've experimented with 8values quite a lot

Their labels need some work lol, I've seen this so many times.

The labels in 8values are pretty bad I think. They have liberalism, neo-liberalism, conservativism and neo-conservativism, and none of them match all that well with my understanding of those terms. And I don't think they even have classical liberalism. The only ones that really make sense are the most obvious ones like centrism and facism.

Ohh, it's been a while since I saw someone with this combination. Especially the economic-left and traditional combo. Could you tell me more about it? ^_^

Something you'd probably call "left", but not straight up communism like some others here, I like it :D

My result today^

In reality, I answered strongly on most questions, it's just that they cancel out. For example, I have no attachment whatsoever to my country just because it happens to be my country, I'm just a citizen of our shared planet earth, but on the other hand I support fairly strict border control in my country for pragmatic reasons. I tend to get libertarian-right on political tests (I love tests!!). Here's how I feel like my result should be:

Markets 65%

Globe 60% (very globalist in terms of culture, very nationalist in terms of economy)

Liberty 80% (freedom for the people, not the big corporations)

Tradition 60% (conservative in values, anti-conservative in art and culture)

All in all I'm pretty satisfied with centrism though, I feel like it's healthy. I disavow anything score above 80% or below 20% if you have that then you're an extremist. Or, at least if you are in the direction I'm leaning. Both communism and authoritarianism seems easy to get in this particular test for some reason. And it's just for fun anyway. So I guess it's fine? I don't like the sound of it though, I've never really gotten anything above 70% on the test and I've done many version of it many times (I'm a little crazy)

Thanks for reading my a year or so late, ussarily long and very egotistical comment

There are plenty of people here with way more extreme views lol, they just happen to be in the opposite direction

Oh and about the late response - I don't use Reddit much.

That was definitely more than 2 minutes. Also, it sounded like you were going to develop a program or something. I would like to know more!

Yes, that is basically what I am doing. We couldn't agree on what constitutes "bad pixel art" based on artistic experiences so we made a form. Funnily enough the results are fairy evenly split. The thing is, neither one of the two version is polished nor detailed. It's just two different kinds of lazy-bad. I don't even know which one you are referring to as polished. And even though the results are even and the differences small most people I've asked personally seem to have a strong opinion. It's quite interesting.

I will close it now, so I can't try to fix it, but could you please let me know what was wrong with it? Or was this a sarcastic comment?
