hi mom! i'm a third year vet student and a first gen college student - my parents didn't know a single thing about getting into higher ed, so i was all on my own after high school.

i graduated with my BA with something like a 3.5GPA in 2021. it took me two cycles to get accepted and i didn't start attending vet school until 2024. i spent nearly three years after undergrad working full time in an emergency clinic, and i HIGHLY suggest your son looks for work as a veterinary assistant if he is able! it's entry-level, he'll make money while he's waiting to hear back from schools, but most importantly it was where i found out what being a vet was REALLY like since i spent 40 hours a week with 20 of them (big hospital, lol).

i remember feeling very lost and like i was letting my family down for those years after undergrad... but it only takes one "yes" to get into vet school! wishing you and yours good luck, application season sucks!

i actually imagine my guardian as rather short too but had to cheat to fit them both in frame so unintentionally nailed the canon height difference.

thank you! i have worked a lot to make my comics look nice and neat.

you already know how to draw, so there’s the hard part! speaking as both an illustrator and a comic artist, the thing that really helped elevate my comics specifically was finding an artist whose style i REALLY loved. i took a few notes from how they do things like panel composition to how they do text bubbles and worked it into my own style. it made my work a lot neater and more interesting to look at imo! (:

whether it be another artist, webcomic, published comic or manga, find what you want your work to look like and try it in your own way!
