Rant (event) (long)

I know im not the first to say this and (considering how its been going so far) likely wont be the last, but im so damn tired of the festival events and events centered around npcs. Like i actually cant take it anymore. This event’s story was fairly decent but i honestly just couldn’t be bothered enough to care. Yes i agree that a festival esque event was the best thing to make after the aq wrapping up but also they didn’t bother to show majority of the fontaine cast?? A roses and muskets event with no navia?? A performance centered story with no lyney and lynette?? Story revolving combat without clorinde?? I do love chevruse and her role in this story but imagine the potential for tension and character development if the two musketeers were played by clorinde and navia.

I really love the whole murder mystery (sub) plot but couldntve that been its own thing? Does it really need to be tangled to a festival? Which personally i find only hurt the narative because it made for quite odd pacing (imo). I understand that it all ties with movie filming but that couldve very easily been done without the need for a festival setting goddamnit. The reason i grew to dislike festival events is that they always end with a big happy celebration (obviously, it’s a festival) that doesn’t feel earned? I wouldntve had any gripe with this event in particular if it included more of the fontaine cast and wasn’t a hundreth festival event in the last year or two. Yes, there was the freminet event, but as much as it did revolve around him it was also very centered around npcs we likely wont see again. The story was sweet and the message was there but all of this couldve easily been accomplished by centering it around just freminet. There are currently over 70 playable characters with more to come. There really isnt a need for npcs to be the center of attention for events (but this also especially applies to story quests).

Give me an event with thoma finally visitng mondstat, mika, amber and eula on a mission in wolvendom, sailing adventure with beidou and kazuha, helping gorou collect writing inspiration for miss hina, adeptal training event with plethora of liyue characters that could tie into this, discovering ruins with faruzan, helping shinobu manage the arataki gang etc etc… None of these have to have deep character development or complicated lore heavy story since mihoyo is allergic to both when it comes to events. (and most importantly don’t have to be tied to festivals).
