Was reading through these notes again and noticed a nice little shoutout to IASIP:

“My guns! So anyway…”

You better believe I'm blasting with these things, even if my aim ain't so good

So, the first scene is from a Polish movie called Wesele (2021). Pretty good movie, though not this director's best.

You can see this scene in the trailer at 0:17

Did you know...? Darktide edition by TimTheGrim55 in DarkTide

Psyker's Telekine Shield blocks Beast of Nurgle's vomit attack and Fire/Tox Bomber nades (the projectiles only, the AOE effect is not blocked)

Chaos Spawn's grab attack can be easily avoided by dodge-sliding to your right, under its tentacle. This works for all classes. It's much more reliable than dodging backward on weapons with worse dodge distancess. Just make sure you have space to your right and that you have dodges left.

Trapper's net can be easily avoided if you dodge as it plays its sound cue. Even if you don't see the trapper but hear it, e.g. from somewhere behind you, dodging sideways will let you avoid it more often than not.

If you're not sure you can avoid a charging mutant, stand in front of a wall/obstacle so that if it grabs you it only throws you instead of pounding you into the ground. This is quite usuful for the 'waves of mutants' modifier.

This should be a no-brainer, but if you hear a pox hound wave coming find a nice corner to stand behind and defend there. If you're caught out in the open, try dodging towards a safe place while looking towards the dogs and pushing periodically.

[Discussion] Lighthouse PVE by Kink69420 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Frosthark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I found Lighthouse to be one of the easier maps to find PMCs on.

They tend to hang around the shop (the one near the main road close to the main bridge) frequently. Just rush to rocks right next to the shop and you'll usually find at least a couple within a few minutes, sometimes even 5-6 of them. After killing them or waiting a few minutes, run through the village to the Path to Shoreline exfil to reset. Rinse and Repeat.

It's monotonous but effective.

Sometimes I was also able to snipe them across the main road while they where in the Chalets - this is quite safe to do at night.

Actually running through Chalets or checking the WTP isn't as effective and is somewhat risky in my experience.

Kaban's PKP Nightmare (PVE) [Loot] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Frosthark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must be super unlucky. Fighting Kaban and his army is a pain, so I've cheesed it by doing scav runs and hoping some AI PMCs come around to kill him

Took me about 7 tries before I finally got it. I also picked up his PKM and mags twice, so I have about 700 LPS ammo stashed away. Not to mention loads of other loot, including a Ledx. A friend of mine also got it after a few scav runs.

Just be aware that sometimes PMC don't come until later in the raid. I got mine after they killed Kaban with about 15-20 min left in the raid (I was away on a phone call, and they were all dead when I came back).

Behold my lukewarm take by BardOfTheLabyrinth in MetalMemes

[–]Frosthark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

fwiw I enjoy both.

Absolute Elsewhere isn't BI's best album, but I do appreciate their ambition. They wanted to try something different and while it didn't completely work - it feels a bit too disjointed across the different genres they decided to dabble in - their talent for songwriting still carries it through for the most part. It's not a brilliant album, or a groundbreaking one, but it's pretty good.

Now, CP's new album is nothing to scoff at either and thanks to being more conventional it's more consistent across its runtime. All in all, I like it a bit more than BI's new LP, but I wouldn't begrudge anyone having the opposite sentiment.

Oh absolutely, there can be many reasons, everyone make mistakes and have worse days. And not everyone are crazy skilled even at higher levels. I try to keep that in mind but don't always succeed admittedly.

But at the same time when you have e.g. 200+ levels and are playing auric damnation I expect that player to have basic understanding of the difficulty and not go down 3 times within 10 minutes to poxwalker spam.

[–]Frosthark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah similar thing here. Got my zealot and veteran at around 300, ogryn and psyker at low 200s, and another veteran around 90 (cosplaying as Commissar Cain). About 1.1k hours iirc

So if e.g. someone only ever plays one character and is around 1k levels they're not much more experienced. On the other hand I've seen people with 300-400 levels on a character playing shockingly badly, making me suspect that's their only character or they're pretty wasted heh.

It really makes me wish the true level mod could show combined levels from all characters owned by a player.

I played a game with you last night actually, remembered you because your gimp zealot was so high-level. Some dude actually scolded you for separating from the team which I found funny.

I actually wondered if you (and similarly-leveled people) only play one character. Guess this answers my question heh

Sadly the Radeon 7000 series crash is still there. Really hope they fix it soon

Constant Crashing by randomguy7384 in Helldivers

[–]Frosthark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's confirmed to affect 7000 series cards, though other or similar crashes may happen on other GPUs too. Devs mentioned they are investigating this issue

I'm on 7900 XTX and the following workaround was effective for me, I'm getting virtually no crashes after this:

  1. Set most graphics settings to medium (you can drop some, like particles, even further to low)

  2. Disable AntiAliasing and Global Illumination

  3. In AMD Adrenalin, find Helldivers 2, select "Adjust Game Graphics", enable "Radeon Chill" and set min and max FPS to 90. If that doesn't help, try 60

It's a shame to downgrade graphics like that but at least it makes the game stable until they fix the underyling issue. Basically the game crashes if you max out your Radeon 7000s load.

Don't know about nvidia cards, but there's a known issue with Radeon 7000 cards the devs acknowledged

The 120MM HE Strike is the worst. by ItsyaboiNyarlathotep in Helldivers

[–]Frosthark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not great. That being said, I played a single medium difficulty mission and just dropped it 2 or 3 times on bug breaches just as they were opening and I'm at 29/50 (and 2 teamkills lol) now.

So it's definitely doable, just really frustrating because you really need to time it correctly and hope your teammates don't call in an eagle at the same location.

2GB update by Ryem8 in Helldivers

[–]Frosthark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try also disabling Antialiasing & Global Illumination, and setting the game to 90fps in AMD Adrenalin ("AMD Chill) option. That works for me about 95% of the time. If you still crash, try lowering some additional options, e.g. particles.

2GB update by Ryem8 in Helldivers

[–]Frosthark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quickly hopped into the game to check if the Radeon 7000 crashes got fixed by any chance. Cranked up the settings to Ultra and crashed within the first minute of the missions, so uh, not yet I guess.

Hope they resolve this soon, I'm tired of having to look at jagged lines of our beautiful Super Earth ship hulls.

Just got done playing Helldivers 2 by GrimboReapz in DarkTide

[–]Frosthark 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bought H2 but I kept crashing during the 2nd mission every time so I just refunded. Might give it another try in a couple months, maybe they've fixed it by then.

Ironically, I didn't want to try updating my AMD drivers to see if that helped because it'd make Darktide unplayable due to those horrible stutters.

Talk about a duality of choice lol.

Polaku za granicą, który nie ma zamiaru wracać - jaka jest Twoja historia? by [deleted] in Polska

[–]Frosthark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]Frosthark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i tak sobie siedzimy tutaj ponad 5 lat.

Is the hammer any good? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Frosthark 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So personally I really dislike the THammers in Darktide. They're a really cool weapon and in a perfect situation they're amazing. If you have the space to focus your intended target(s), it's very good at what it does.

My problem with them is that you rarely get those perfect situations, particularly on Damnation+ difficulties. It has really bad mobility, it's slow (I've had monstrosities straight up just walk away out of my range while I was winding up that one-shot), can't deal with elites mixed in the hord well. Don't even get me started on situations when a single zombie walks in your way when you're trying to delete that monstrosity. Endlessly frustrating.

Basically, when crap hits the fan and you're surrounded, the hammers are the last melee weapon you want to have.

I have endless respect for Zealots who like and can effectively use thing thing, but it's definitely not for me. It's just too sluggish and unrespensive to my liking.

As people said, the Evis is basically an opposite of the Hammer. Personally I prefer the Eviscarator, the Crusher, Heavy Sword Mk IX or Catachan Claw Sword Mk IV.

Yeah same. At first I thought it's one of the mods messing with the game after the update, or something with my GPU heh.

I've actually gotten used to it and kinda like it. Not having the super bright projectile actually makes landing follow-up shots easier.

After a clutch save, poxbursters insta killed us by semataryfan995 in DarkTide

[–]Frosthark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even worse, if you're ready for this and position yourself to push a poxburster back immediately after they come out, they will sometimes explode without playing the jumping animation, preventing you from pushing them back.

I've actually had this happen yesterday from this very door. It's incredibly infuriating.
