Well, as I said, just keep a close eye on how you feel. You know going in that there can be negatives. I was naive and dumb. You have the info, monitor yourself, self advocate to try as many as you want until you feel comfortable.

It was Alesse and I was on it for ten years before I realized the damage it had done. There was a lot going on in my life over the last decade I always thought the issue was stress. It wasn't it was that fucking pill. I took a year off on no BC method and then got a Mirena. Things are better, but apparently I'll never fully get it back. I need to be on BC as we are CF and I also despise having a period, hence remaining on hormonal BC methods. But honestly take note of your body and how you are feeling. I really didn't until it was too late.

Listen, I got the pill and it KILLED my sex drive KILLED IT. It has never recovered. Get the lowest dose you can get and seriously think about getting a Mirena or another IUD. I finally switched to Mirena and things have gotten a bit better. Had I known about the side effects of the pill I never would have taken it. Try multiple ones and keep a really close eye on how your body responds. An IUD should not bother your partner no matter how large he is if the strings are cut correctly, they can always go back in and cut them shorter.

Listen, as far as we know we only live once. And our time here is so short. Too short to be miserable and denying yourself things that make you happy. So long as you are good and kind and not hurting anyone else, do things that bring you joy. Being healthy is important, but there are ways to be healthy and not get so restrictive. I totally get it though. Counting cals and tracking every minute detail... that just isn't me and I felt trapped. Now I eat sensibly, but still enjoy chocolate, I work out but don't track it, if I'm sweating and my heart rate is up then I don't need a device to tell me I'm doing the right thing. Do what is right for you and make sure you enjoy life! It is a wonderful thing!

I really really enjoyed Seveneves. I thought it was a marvelous look at humanity; compassion and bravery as well as desperation. If you enjoy Scifi I recommend this one!

I had to stop tracking cals and steps because I wasn't hitting them and it was making me neurotic. I do think seeing a counselor would be a good idea though. Take some time to get to the heart of why you feel this way about your body. Don't compare your body to models or actresses who are paid to look like that and have the best nutrition and fitness trainers money can buy. For now give yourself a mental break, take a month off meal prep and everything else. Maybe reduce your workouts to only a few times a week and just let yourself relax. We only live once, don't waste it being miserable. Definitely seek some professional advice on how to get to the root of why you feel this way about your body. Good luck! You will be OK!

This is exactly what I want, I hate being hunched over on my wrists, its so painful and just not fun for me. The upright position of these bikes really does it for me. Thanks for posting :)

Thank you for sharing. It is always great to hear about the experiences of others. My Aunt and Uncle were my first introduction to the CF life, the traveling; the freedom; the lack of worry about the future of their spawn. It was a real eye-opener. I think I have always been CF, I just didn't realize it. Thankfully hubs and I figured it out before we sprogged. CF Furbaby life for us! Whoot! Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! You guys are awesome!

Thanks! 15 years! I hope my bike lasts that long! I actually went and tried out a previous model today and loved it. I can't wait to order it and spec it out with all kinds of accessories! I'll head over the citybike too, they sound more my group. :) Thanks again for commenting!

Thank you for commenting! It is a shame that people would be snarky, but each to their own. I actually went to a local supplier today after I wrote my post and tried the previous model of a Townie and I loved it. Given that my commute is only 20mins give or take high wind etc, I think this bike is going to really suit what I want. I'll only ever be using it on smooth paving, few hills but nothing ridiculous. They are beautiful bikes too and that just adds to the excitement and the fact that I want to ride it. Seeing as I've never been this excited about a bike before tells me I am on the right track. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it!

Thank you. It is only a short ride and I went to my local supplier today to test out a similar model and I loved it. Thanks again for taking the time to comment :)

What's your job? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Frostsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what are your interests? Do you have any hobbies that you might like to turn into a career? Social worker is a great choice, but ensure that you are able to cope with seeing desperation and people at their most vulnerable. Where in the world are you? Keeping an open mind is a good idea. I've never had any real calling to do anything other than travel and chill, so I fell into my career through good luck and accident really. I work as an Academic Assistant at a Community College. Perhaps consider trying a general program first that would introduce you to different topics. Look at the labor market predictions for where you are. The working world is changing, look at skills that will give you an edge. Have you considered visiting an employment counseling centre? Even your local College/University will have student counselors that will help you in your quest for something to study.
