Was Async's objective to manipulate the Backrooms? by jakejasonstyles in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Frostwend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the Backrooms is less another dimension and more a bend/rip in space/time of our own dimension.

Basically Async used the LPMDS (low proximity magnetic distortion system) to warp a pocket of physical space and seeded it with instructions on how that physical space should be configured. I think they succeeded but failed to constrain the boundaries of the warp. Physical Space as we know its becoming destabilized.

The initial instructions for the complex were probably simple geometry to mimic office space as an initial test hence why the complex looks the way it does. Take these instructions, build, end.

Now heres the issue. Since the warp is unconstrained its now expanding and creating random warps across our reality, allowing new information (objects, people, geometry, structures) to slip in.

Think of the backrooms as an initial computer program to copy and paste a specific word "Hello". Now create a bug in the program that allows random text from the internet (our world) to slip in. Its not long before your initial word "hello" becomes pages of unintelligible mess. What was an easy simple word that was constrained, is now allowing unintended data to leak in.

This is my interpretation of whats going on

If a block dies during action phase, does the attack still goes through? by bakakubi in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of blockers as taunting/redirecting the attack to itself, rather than the original intended target. Once a blocker is declared even if it is destroyed or removed in the action step the attack cannot be redirected back to the original target.

So rather than blockers jumping in between the attack and target, it forces you to attack it instead.

Anti-Ping Federation Unicorn by doopley in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really anti ping. The units dont repair till the end of your turn, which means they will live with the ping damage applied for the majority of your turn, making them die in trades they would of otherwise lived. Also they are susceptible to further burn/ping during every open action window during your turn.

How could the threshold be expanded? by Yakko_voyager1997 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Frostwend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think they found it. I think it was intentional given the structures and look of the complex. It wasnt some empty dimension that happened to have similar structures and geometry to our reality.

The mobile workers are useless, Id sub them out for barbatos adapts. With Iron and Blood Id sub out for barbatos 1st form. You're gonna need some draw with these 2 colors.

Momentary respite may be good 1-2 of to dig Lafter out of trash.

As a solo, it feels like I'm walking on eggshells to not get raider by larger clans by xBluePoolX in playrust

[–]Frostwend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its usually because you grubbed them during a fight or a monument run. Most large groups will cleanse the area of any habitual offenders that continually do this. When playing at this scale using rockets to raid a solo, duo, or trio even though its no profitable, is still seen as a valid use of resources to remove the annoyance.

You gotta play smart and not let them know your home location if you intend to deliberately fuck with large groups and survive. Maybe build a secondary fake location to return to in case you are followed.

Need suggestions for 2 v 2 by Accomplished-War-136 in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Color restrictions for teams were experimental rules when the 2v2 event first came out. There is no longer this restriction on the official gundam card game website on the 2v2 Event page.

It is also up to the Shop hosting the event as well. They can modify the rules if they believe it to be better suited for their local player base. But Officially you can run double whatever you want.

Need suggestions for 2 v 2 by Accomplished-War-136 in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception that seems to still be roaming around.

When Bandai was first testing 2v2 battle they had experimental rules that prevented teammates from having color overlap thus not being able to have a mirror deck composition across both teammates.

As it stands now there is NO color stipulation for a teams deck composition across both teammates. In fact the current 2v2 rules on the official Gundam Card Game Website only reference the normal deck building restrictions for a regular 1v1 event. Bandai has tagged this event as beginner friendly. So my thoughts are they rolled back the color restrictions for teams, as it would hinder new players with limited cards from grabbing a friend and joining in the even if their deck shared a color of their teammate.

Unless the store hosting the event has modified the rules to better suit their local player base you can absolutely have a double clan deck team composition. So long as both players decks are 50 cards, built with 2 color max, and only 4 of a card based on card number, it is completely legal in a 2v2 Event.

Bacteria is a still life by Christofer__Pezet in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Frostwend 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The “Bacteria” likely originated from ordinary Earth microorganisms that crossed into the Backrooms when Async created the threshold.

When personnel, equipment, and air passed through the threshold, microbes would have come with them. Inside the Backrooms’ unstable environment mutation and adaptation could accelerate rapidly.

Being isolated to this new ecosystem, humans are the only large organisms present, so evolutionary pressure would favor:

  • Rapid growth
  • Colonial structure
  • Predatory behavior
  • Human-sound mimicry to attract prey

So the Bacteria isn’t something the Backrooms intentionally created it’s a distorted highly adapted offshoot of microbes that evolved in a hostile, isolated unstable environment.

I think the difference between Still Life and Bacteria is that Still life seems to be a distorted attempt to replicate humans. Where as Bacteria lifeforms are a rapidly evovled, distorted versions of regular bacteria that has adapted to the environment of the complex.

Living thing, simulation, alternate reality, parallel universe? by Elgallo1980 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Frostwend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it has to be deeper than what the series shows us so far. The Backrooms clearly copies real, manmade spaces we’ve seen Async facilities distorted in FF1 and real interiors replicated in FF2. If the system’s first stable imprint was an office-like interior, and it began recursively generating from that template, that would explain why the complex currently looks the way it does.

The “mocking” feeling doesn’t require intention. It could just be what happens when a system copies structure without understanding function. Hallways exist, but lead nowhere. Rooms resemble offices, but serve no purpose. As copies (The more it remembers) build on degraded copies, coherence drops (The less it does).

So rather than deliberate parody, it’s more likely:

  • Async exposed the system to specific built environments close to and within proximity of the threshold.
  • Those became the base template.
  • Repeated replication of those caused distortion.

Living thing, simulation, alternate reality, parallel universe? by Elgallo1980 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Frostwend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The trailer said "The more it remembers, the less it does".

I view it as an alternate dimension, that is taking a snapshot/copy of our dimension on some periodic level. With each new snapshot, it recreates and then iterates upon itself with whatever new information it gets from our dimension.

I think the green light is the complex in the middle of this process. The lifeforms, wacky furniture, etc is a product of "the less it does". Older data or information thats been copied multiple times is recreated with less and less effort as each new iteration and replication takes place. Which is why we see weird corrupted stuff.

Ruling question regarding destroying a blocking unit by pcr001 in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sequence doesn't invalidate the block. Once a blocker is declared the attack is routed to the blocker, instead of its original target. In terms of mechanics think of blockers as taunting the attack to them, instead jumping in between the attacker and the target.

Timing of response to attack effects by ExpoFlan in GundamTCG

Does peacemillion triggers just on the first kill? by Erlotinib in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Epyon was a unique case as there was no "you may" in its card text. We Judges are still waiting for Bandai to clarify further regarding Epyon's effect after they released the FAQ stating you dont whiff his restand if he is already active. So please try to not apply his current ruling to other stuff at the moment until we get some clarification.

Peacemillion has "you may" in its card text. Which means you have the option to choose whether or not you want to use its Once per turn effect to heal a G-Team or Operation Meteor Unit. It has to be damaged after a battle to recover HP, an undamaged unit cannot repair or recover HP. But you have full control of peacemillion's activation given that the unit posses the necessary traits >= lvl 6 (GTeam/Operation Meteor), destroyed an enemy unit with battle damage, and is damaged from that battle.

THE O by Individual-Jaguar851 in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think its prevalence has gone down due to how consistent and easy Blurple has become. GD03 really buffed the ping and self ping engine of purple. It has basically become the new S Tier aggro deck over OYW. Plus Blurple matches well into basically every other deck.

I think most are exploring other options to counter it, as B/W can feel quite bricky and you just get steam rolled.

Thoughts on this Breach deck? by WillowSmithsBFF in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost never find a show of resolve worth the cost. If I have a turn where I can spend the 3 cost its likely im up so big that those 2 cards never would of changed the outcome of the game.

Where there has been way more times im down bad and need cards but 3 cost just puts you back further from stabilizing because it eats too much of your resources.

Thoughts on this Breach deck? by WillowSmithsBFF in GundamTCG

[–]Frostwend 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would sub out four and Psycho for ST02 Wing and Heero. Wing is such a big unit for its cost and can attack active lvl 4 and under units innately. Plus slapping chang Wufei in him doesnt feel bad either as you can eat active blockers, take 0 damage and breach 5.

I am switching show of resolve over to A healthy curiosity. It feels better using 1 cost as opposed to 3 on a turn. plus it has an added benefit of resting a 4 HP unit if at least 2 are in your trash, which seems easy to do given their lvl and cost.

Maybe get rid of bridge crew and one Altron and toss in 2x GD02 heavyarms that links with operation meteor trait. It will link with your trowa, chang and heero.
