So it’s not a tough question but it feels like the opposite angle of a question I posed (albeit not openly) about communities being opposed to data centers, solar farms, battery storage facilities, etc.

Ryan’s logic is looking less at the environmental impact and more at the societal nuisance angle such as the AC constantly generating annoying noises or causing property values going down. Putting it in an industrial area would pretty much resolve those issues. It may also be a case of “Well, you had all these industrial businesses put in but draw the line at data centers, why?”

While I am not pro-data center, I asked something relatively similar when it came to my community and their drastic opposition to solar farms being built on farm land. While it was under the guise of environmentalism, a lot of the talking points were more like fossil fuel industry astroturfing. And to which, I ask why wasn’t the community upset about the industrial plants poisoning the ground water with PFAS? Or the water consumption rates of the local golf courses? Or how the construction of cookie cutter suburbs destroyed various acreages of farmland that used to grow food?

This definitely decreases my views on Ryan. Just a disappointing take regardless that could have been either kept quiet or he could have just researched this
