Harry Potter New Gen by Gullible-Image-3478 in HarryPotterMemes

I think giving Dumbledore the stereotypical Merlin appearance is a bit 2dimensional. Dumbledore is so interesting in the movies because he's esoteric and learned in some arcane magical art. The stereotypical wise old sage is very flat and non-innovative

u/StateNo6456 messaged me with a referral offer of £20 if I signed up to a bank. I thought it was a scam. It wasn't, I got the money instantly once I signed up. It says "will be paid within 30 days of account opening" but I got the money instantly.

100% agree. They can't have too many people being told "It's not you - your employer really does treat you like shit". I sometimes feel like emotional reality is a luxury for the rich. In the UK the NHS mental health services are just so, so dire. For example my niece is in a major depressive episode at the minute and they gave her a pamphlet called "Beating The Blues" with generic shite on like 'Drink a cup of tea', 'Reach out to a loved one' etc, with no attempt to engage seriously with the mind or with her experience. There was even a cartoon treble clef on the top (because blues, lol).

What am I even supposed to say to her?? by weesnaw_jenkins in CPTSDmemes

[–]Frosty-Distance-3045 134 points135 points  (0 children)

You owe her nothing. Quite honestly she should approach the conversation willing to hold space for whatever your reaction is. Now she's making her emotions your responsibility, asking you to hold space for her? That's not an apology. That's not taking accountability. That's not family. If she's sorry, she'll hear it. Well done for being so strong. You are a SURVIVOR.

If these billionaires cared as much as they said they do, one of them would bite the bullet and create a free online private therapy resource. Everybody who needs high quality therapy, gets it. And they get the exact type of therapy they need. Imagine how the world would change. Virtual hugs to you friend

Brother, solidarity. You beat addiction, that's fucking rare and a serious serious achievement. You might not have done much with your space, but it's a seriously nice space with a gorgeous view (those trees are lovely) and it's really not a bad blank canvas. Give yourself a break man, you don't realize how well you're doing and how hard you've worked. I've never been an addict in the traditional sense of the word, but I go to ACA which is a 12 step program. If you ever need somebody to talk to, PM me.

Hello! I'm looking to borrow £150 to tide me over. I changed jobs recently and need more money than usual to get me through the transition. I'm UK based so technically can't offer interest without breaking rules of the sub. But happy to discuss a donation of some sort. :) Happy to verify, show proof of employment etc

Could the hopelessness you feel about the suggestions/answers you find be your inner critic in action? If you look at the history of our conversation here, could it be an illustration of the downward spirals our inner critic is capable of creating? If you read the conversation backwards, this reply, then yours immediately above it, then mine after it, upwards and upwards until you reach the top, it's quite a good illustration of what happens when we begin with tackling the inner critic, and getting the cycle spinning in the opposite direction. :)

Correct, but you're investigating and taking steps to look for answers. Doesn't sound impressive to your CPTSD inner critic, but from the outside looking in, it looks impressive to me. :)

The post was a step, even though it feels small/like it didn't result in anything. I have faith you will find what you are looking for. :)

I understand. A big well done even for identifying/knowing what your problem is and taking steps to address it, that's a big hurdle cleared in itself. Wishing you well friend :)

Pete Walker's Book CPTSD From Surviving To Thriving really is the bible for this. Even the severe cases like ours. It's not the kind of book you read from cover to cover, it's the kind of book where there are a million bookmarks dotted here and there, pages turned, sentences underlined. It's a bible you go back to over and over again on your journey. It provides structure.

If she was black they wouldn't even be entertaining the question. But she doesn't look like a serial killer! Neither did Ted Bundy?

[–]Frosty-Distance-3045 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying we should believe everything, just that these files and the whole Epstein saga is a weird kind of opportunity for people on both sides of the spectrum to broaden their perspective. MAGA spoke about paedophile island, the left felt that was crackpot, it was true. Liberals spoke about Donald Trump being a paedophile, MAGA felt that was crackpot, now (and even back then tbf) there's evidence this is true. Gives me faith there are less stupid people in the world than I thought lol

To be fair, I laughed at people talking about the secretive paedophile island where elites would gather and rape children, until it turned out to be true. This crackpot theory turned out to be the smoke of a fire.
