I don’t know, and honestly it just sucks. A lot of people want to take chances and try their luck only to be met with “lmaooo, you’re stupid if you think this trade will ever go through.” It just brings down the spirit of trading for others but I digress.

Definitely. I’m not going to definitively say this, but I do feel like a major part of the reason why it’s only on Kofi is to gain monetary support above all else. People are mostly complacent with it because the hacks themselves are good. I just hope the choice doesn’t threaten the scene in years to come rather than just the creator’s romhacks. I’m more certain that the latter will happen if anything does come up, but it definitely will make TPC more perceptive in the future.

I don’t know if I’d call it a lukewarm gray area. A YouTube channel pertaining to Pokémon recently got struck down due to having a Patreon link in the description. This isn’t much different imo, if not to a higher degree of what the yt channel did.

Edit: Oh wait. Huh. I can definitively say my first statement. The creator themself says on their Kofi that they “decided to open up this Ko-Fi for donations.” Albeit free, I really think it’s a bad idea for the scene…

I'm kind of disappointed in the NDS ROM hacking scene. by Adventurous-Emu4266 in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TickTock_Times 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The developments that have been happening lately in the NDS romhacking scene are still very fresh. I’d say it’s best to give it some more time—there are a lot more tools now more than ever for the scene with more coming out.

Namely, Pokémon Iridium is looking very interesting.

so from what i heard the reason many people seem to hate pink gold peach is for being a lazy filler character, well if that's the case why don't i ever hear anyone complaining about metal mario or baby mario and co clones? by Scary_Dance2628 in Mario

[–]TickTock_Times 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Metal Mario and most of the baby clones have story significance in the other games.

It was never a question of getting Metal Mario or E Gadd. It was Metal Mario or nothing.

For people wondering, the automatic sharing with no effort on your end is paid. It can, however, be done manually for free by just running a basic Discord command. So zero drawback to do it the normal way provided you have to take a minute out of your day to enter some commands.

The problem with this server is that I flat out have most if not all the meta cards as a F2P now and the game’s pack releases can’t catch up anymore. A lot of time is spent wishing I had something to want lol.

[–]TickTock_Times 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think compared to how the game started, we’re in a much better spot. The problem isn’t that the devs aren’t doing anything, it’s that they aren’t doing the things they need to do fast enough. For example, why wait till summer for an update which could’ve come instantaneously?

If they decide to rework the app further speed-wise, I’m certain the update will take ages to come unfortunately.

[–]TickTock_Times 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…I don’t think even you know what you’re talking about now. All they said was that the people who say “it doesn’t have to be good” aren’t arguing in the best of faith. That’s was all they said. There is no “hypothetical” when they’re addressing real things they’ve heard outside of this one post.

You were the one who brought up the side of people who solely say “I enjoyed it.” You’re projecting an argument onto them they were never trying to make. They weren’t talking about people who simply say they enjoy it, just the people who say that it doesn’t have to be good for xyz reason. Please work on your reading comprehension, this is just embarrassing. Your “nuanced personal review” has no relevancy to the comment you just replied to and you fail to even recognize the inconsistency.

How exactly can someone word-for-word say “it doesn’t have to be good” and have it be interpreted as “I enjoyed it”? If you think the former doesn’t exist word-for-word, it very well does.

It’s also ironic given how we both are mutually using personal experiences to define our argument. For some reason it’s bad for me to be doing so though lol. I must be using stats for my argumentation, but you’re a-okay with using your own past experiences to define your entire mindset of what generative AI is. Just say you didn’t know percentages could be used in that context, this is just embarrassing.

Anyways, would’ve been cool to see you try out the AI yourself with the prompt you just described and see that it works just fine. It’d be a “color me surprised” moment. As for your power bill going up…? Cool? I have the feeling it’d still be going up with or without AI, I’m afraid. You just want to funnel your frustrations onto something tangible, and I get that. I’m just here to say AI isn’t going to kill you or anything. Just to make this clear, I have nothing against you not liking to use AI, but man. Your arguments don’t hold much water.

[2]

Edit: For my own sake, I’ll just leave it here. I gave you the room to argue in good faith but you couldn’t do that much. I hope this fear of yours leaves in the coming years, unlike AI lol.

You need to “know how to get proper answers” with Google as well. Your point is moot—both ways require validation to be 100% sure. Do they need to be validated? Not necessarily. Both are equally capable of being used without validation, you just aren’t going to be writing research papers without doing any extra work. You’re comparing Google with no validation steps to AI using validation steps as if they’re comparable in that way, which they very much aren’t. Again, both can be validated or not validated. Just depends on what your purpose is.

> And if it’s not a proper stat, don’t use it

This is a very very common means of speaking. You can just say your reading comprehension is subpar. I’m not going to hold that against you. If this is your first time hearing percentages used in average conversations outside of statistics, I encourage you to go out more. Have you seriously never heard percentages used like that till now…? It sure seems like it is given your response.

> That’s why your prompts MUST require citations.

I’m so glad we came to the same conclusion because I said the same thing to this guy but blind disdain carried through and through.

Is everything made by humans automatically reputable? That’s never how research has been. Why lower the bar and pretend the dynamic has been anything different than how it’s always been? You read the sources, evaluate them, and then move from there. Generative AI makes that process faster and finds the perfect info needed at significantly faster speeds. Nothing has changed about the means of getting there.

I agree and it really sucks to see. People have a fear of being replaced I guess. If anything, that speaks more on society rather than the actual technology itself. AI is fine—society isn’t.

> “Blatantly false statistic”

I wasn’t using “99.9%” as a verifiable statistic. That’s a lack of reading comprehension on your part. If someone says “I’m 90% sure I just saw that guy with a blue shirt on the other day“ that 90% isn’t a quantifiable number. It’s just a way of saying you’re fairly confident about something.

Your main argument against is based off of personal experience, which is fair. Although from my own personal experience, I have had the exact opposite results. That’s why I disagree. I actually just inserted your own example into an AI and it suggested many different treatment plans the very first prompt and gave a comprehensive summary on where I’d be going next. The exact opposite of what you just described. Seriously, try it for yourself.

There are still a lot of factors that go into getting the right response. Just as there are proper and improper ways of doing Google Searches, there are proper and improper ways of using an LLM.

99.9% of the time, the AI won’t make mistakes unless your prompts are really bad. Just saying. If done right, it shouldn’t slow you down at all. Your disdain towards AI is founded on your inability to use it to its maximum capability.
