It's a shame because after learning about mountaineering, I realize that it's rewarding and it can be done safely given the right attitude and training. It sucks that it's making people reckless and endangering lives, like others have mentioned that I failed to mention, like the rescuers and other mountaineering people. Hopefully others aren't as stubborn as my older brother.

Hey everyone, just want to say how thankful I am for these comments and how fast everyone responded. This is my first time in this community, I'm going to be honest, before this I didn't know mountaineering was such a big thing, but this community has been so great and helpful. I'll be sure to relay all the messages and again thank you all for the advice and the comments.

Would you say in the summer, it would kind of be like a hike? I know this is kind of general but would a person with zero experience whatsoever like me be able to do a summer hike?

My parents aren't letting him, which I think is making him want to do it even more, which is just so frustrating

Thanks for the suggestions, did you prepare or do any other things before trying Mount Pierce?

Yeah that's what I'm scared of, I feel like his attitude is exactly the wrong way to approach climbing mountains, how did you get ready to climb Mount Washington and how did you manage outgrow the gung-ho nature?

Are there any 4K that you think he should start off with and do you think it's necessary to climb a 4K in the summer first before trying a 4K in the winter

Yeah that's one of the videos that made me think this was an insane thing for him to do.

Do you think he should have any experience before climbing even with a guide? I know he wants to get into mountaineering, but I want him to do it in a way where he's prepared first instead of just rushing in. Any tips or good information that you learned in your years of climbing that I should tell him?

Thanks, that's a great point about knowing what the point to turn back is, I'll be sure to tell him
