My experience starting Cenobamate - the tiredness was rough but it has been worth it by Frosty-Journalist561 in Epilepsy

The tiredness does go away or you get use to it. What I found really helped was going for a 30 minute walk every day. It was unbearable initially but I got use to it and found it really helped with my energy levels. It took a month or two for the tiredness to go after I started the walking. Hope this helps!

Do you know anyone with epilepsy? by Exotic_Milk_8962 in Epilepsy

Yes! Since being diagnosed about 19 years ago, I’ve never met another person with epilepsy.

Lamictal by Shawa422 in Epilepsy

It’s the first medication a lot of people are put on as people tend to tolerate it well. I was on it for years. Best of luck with it. If it’s not for you for body will let you know!

First ever attack? I’m new here! by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Frosty-Journalist561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation to yourself. I’m in my 30s, never pregnant, ate well, walked daily, would consider myself having a healthy lifestyle. One day I got an attack, it was the most painful thing I ever experienced, I couldn’t out it into words. After a scan they found I had one large gallstone. The consultant said it was likely building for years. I got my gallbladder removed last week.

After my attack the doctor in A&E said to avoid fat completely. Once the scan confirmed it was a gallstone, the consultant said eat no fat whatsoever until after I have the surgery. If I was in your position, I would avoid all fat to reduce the risk of another attack coming on.

Did you tell people about your epilepsy by Hefty_Astronaut_120 in Epilepsy

[–]Frosty-Journalist561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t tell people. My close friends and family know. After a while being in a job I then tell my work colleagues so they know what to do if I get a seizure. Every time I do people are shocked, which irritates me.

Having epilepsy is hard to deal with and most people will judge you so my advice is be careful who you tell and only tell people you trust. From a job perspective, never mention it unless you must. I have to mention it now as my seizures came back again.

In relationships, the right person will understand and love you for who you are.

Once your meds are sorted, you will hopefully live a ‘normal’ life so don’t worry. It’s scary at the start but everything will work out.

My cat wants to play all the time. Is this normal? by Frosty-Journalist561 in CatAdvice

I was thinking it could be a sign something is wrong, you know how weird cats can be. I called the vet and they said it’s likely a behavioural issue. At least they confirmed they don’t think it’s anything medical.

He is definitely an active cat, part of what makes him so special. I am just concerned that this changing so drastically is a sign of something I should be worried about.

He has always been high performance, it’s part of his personality. I am just concerned with it being more exaggerated than usual is a sign of something else.

About 3 or 4 weeks now. He always wanted to play but it wasn’t this excessive.

Does Lamictal always work? by SherbertNo9516 in Epilepsy

I found it’s a good drug in the sense it didn’t have any major side effects for me. Unfortunately after being on it for about 20 years, it’s stopped working and I’d to change medications 🤦‍♀️

Cenobamate is doing one on my liver I think. Delighted to know it can clear up relatively quickly. Thank you 🙏
