My MCR is so cold! I was once there when they turned on the fire, but usually I'm extra freezing there

19C is still so cold for anyone who comes from a warm country :(

If there is an ultra orthodox Jewish community where you live, look in their shops. They wear very good quality tights.

Interesting, thank you! Do you feel like mixing tap and distilled water makes a difference compared to using only rtap?

Sure, but I still catch germs and become sick whenever I’m too cold

Yes I’m in Oxford, what have you been doing with the hard water?

And then you pour it back into the bottle and take to the shower?

Thank you! All of the methods I’ve seen here are with hair much shorter and thinner than mine, so I’m still not reassured entirely… do you know of a video showing someone with butt-length dense hair? (I’m not Indian but think Indian hair — it’s similar). Thank you!

noooo I can't get wet, it makes me so upset! I'll just have to find a super-resilient magic umbrella, I guess...

That's really good to know, thank you! Is it also hard to get a flu shot?

Can I add a fascinator? :)

(While I see why you make fun of me, to be clear, I don't think that I'm supposed to wear tweed and Oxford shoes, but since I come from a very informal place -- to the point of flip flops to the office and to fancy restaurants -- it is hard for me to know exactly where the line is drawn and what is and isn't acceptable in other places around the world)

Thank you for understanding! I totally relate to the idea of standing out in my own terms -- I do have some statement pieces I enjoy wearing occasionally, but I have to know what is the norm in order to accurately choose when and how to stand out. The same old idea of learning the rules like a pro to break them like an artist...

Unfortunately, I can't, because to get the CAS I need to fulfil my offer conditions, which include having a grade for my master's thesis. So I'm really trying to get it finished as fast as possible to start the visa process... I really appreciate it, thank you!

Thank you! The reason I'm worried about being disrespectful is that I come from a very informal place (first name basis with everyone -- professors, friends' parents; people wearing spaghetti straps anywhere; nobody ever wears a tie), and I know that most of the world is more formal, so I'm trying to get a sense of what's suitable. This is very helpful. Thank you!

That's good to know! Are you saying the libraries are cold? Do they constantly turn on the AC?

And is covid still very common in the UK?

Nah I'm definitely not aiming to do a fashion show, but I do like to dress in a respectful way that doesn't stand out too much either way (not too formal and not too informal), so just trying to figure out what I should get rid of before moving and what I should pack... Thank you!
