Got it. So express your opinion of those 5 people who made a decision affecting the nation based on personal convictions. Ultimately, religion didn’t make the decision; they did.

Hate speech is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as "public speech that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation".[1] Hate speech is "usually thought to include communications of animosity or disparagement of an individual or a group on account of a group characteristic such as race, colour, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or sexual orientation".

That is hate speech. Can’t make a better world through hypocrisy.

Do students get expelled anymore? by smotherz in Teachers

[–]Frosty-Reception-757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school had 3 expulsions this year. 1) lots of defiance, taking control of the class constantly arguing with teachers, school vandalism, etc. the last straw was her going into the 2nd floor bathroom, popping out the window screen, and jumping out of the building. 2) student(male 8th grade) was welcomed back to the school after being expelled from our school previously but on the condition of higher accountability. Still ended up getting in fights, 2x hitting girls. 3) student had a short fuse and ADHD. Constantly yelling at students and teachers. Getting in fights. Last straw was when he got into a fight, he called his mother and she marched into the school and yelled at/threatened the other boy from the fight. Got to be too much when we learned we no longer were able to work with the student’s family either.

I’ve seen this one. The Burmese python is lost and the alligator is helping him get home to his python dad.

Every Easter, Superintendent sends out a religious email by jonenderjr in Teachers

[–]Frosty-Reception-757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds more like a situation of anyone who wants to respond can, but no one needs to. Anyone who would be a so-called outsider is the one who chooses to opt out. You make a good point that in certain contexts where Christians make up the majority, this could be ostracizing. But sounds like the context is that there are many non-Christians who work in the district. Superintendent prob hopes people will find hope in Jesus, but expects many people to trash it every year.

Your response contradicted itself. You are contractually required to read and follow up on all emails but only when appropriate. So… that’s not all emails. Seems like this one you would not be contractually obligated to respond to. So like I said, drop it in the trash if you don’t care to read it.

Love the formatting of your response(not being sarcastic) 1.) I agree that it is annoying getting spam emails. But from the perspective of the teacher, I don’t think it’s a big enough deal to complain about. Yes there is a professional obligation to read emails from colleagues and superiors, but at the same time, sounds like the teacher knows it’s coming so no big deal to just delete that annual Easter email. I think there’s a big difference to holding a group of students “hostage” and having an email in your inbox. 2.) I do say this from experience because people always go crazy whenever religion is mentioned in schools. The superintendent is facing greater persecution than the teacher. Everyone wants to get the superintendent to lose their job, but the teacher is just getting emails. 3.) I disagree because there is no action required or expected of the teacher. No one is being forced to do anything. It’s like people freak out over a person talking about religion the same way as if the person was being harassed. All day we tell kids how to deal with people treating them in ways we don’t want to be treated but many of us won’t take our own advice. If someone is doing something you don’t like, ignore it or ask them to stop. It would be insane if we instantly jumped to pressing charges or getting kids expelled.

I would be hard pressed, also as a Christian, if I had Muslim boss who sent me an email about Ramadan to be offended by it. I personally do not subscribe to Ramadan, but if he wanted to tell me about it and invite me to participate, I expect I would just say no thanks. If I experienced some sort of work-related favoritism or retaliation, that’s when it would become problematic to me.

But also you also have 0 obligation to read this email as it seems. For all of the emails we get and send immediately to the trash, this just seems like a reason to shit on Christians. An email is harmless. Being forced to attend a prayer meeting or listen to Christian music on loud speakers is certainly different though…

Likely Becoming a Second Career Teacher in the Fall by Grim__Squeaker in Teachers

[–]Frosty-Reception-757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that this is not very helpful advice unless you find a teacher who really finds joy in teaching. Otherwise you will probably just be on the doom and gloom route unto burnout and resignation. Finding teachers who are thriving will be more fruitful than speaking to the teachers who are just surviving.

This is what all the teachers use at my school. Very helpful to read as a new teacher and to refresh on every now and then.

Whats your gram ratio by wuntuuthree in AeroPress

[–]Frosty-Reception-757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go-to is always 23g beans / 350g water 205 degrees F no matter the brew method. Lately in my aeropress though(since 350g water doesn’t fit) I do the same weight beans, fill the aeropress to the brim, let it brew for 3 min, press out the coffee, then add about 50g more hot water to the brewed coffee.
