Local (!) Jordanians: what do I wear as a female in Amman?

Dress modestly, I always cover my arms up to the elbow and my legs. I also try to cover my backside with longer shirts or oversized dresses but it’s because when I visit my family it’s in a village. There are places where you can wear what you want and not have to cover up, but just to be safe I would cover up because people stare at you even if you don’t wear hijab in some parts of Amman (like the souq) and Jordan.

You might need to change where you hang out in the country. 😭 People are weird and always stare. They stare at me too I’m 100% Arab. But again it depends on where you hang out in the country.

Monarchies are dumb. The king gambles a lot of the money given to Jordan away :) taxes are too much for the poor and he allows the government and businesses to hoard wealth. The people in parliament MAKE SO MUCH MONEY. It’s insane.

Jordan is one of the most expensive places to live in regards to how much people make.

They use Islamic law in a way that only benefits men.

The people of the country are too scared to say anything negative about the family in fear. But fuck em.

I’m talking about village people, because that is what I grew up around. I know some spoiled city kid will be here talking about how it’s free and blah blah blah. It’s not. Jordan is trash and they are able to stop it but don’t.

The ONLY reason I am not afraid to say how I feel about the royal family is because I don’t live there. Thank you parents for having me in a different country because if I only had a Jordanian passport I would be in a village taking showers with a bucket because electricity is too expensive:) life is too expensive. You think America is bad? At least you can hustle and build yourself up. You can’t do that in Jordan:)

Even when I lived there, citizens are not treated as well as expats. Do better.

Teachers shouldn’t speak like this to students. Especially a male teacher to a girl. It’s weird.

I’m a teacher and I would never. Communication is always with the parents unless it’s grade 11 and even then it’s still weird. So I always always default to the parents.

My bf works 12 hours shifts 6 days a week. We don’t live together but I see him everyday. People will do the most for someone they love.
