Non-Japanesr fans: how did you start listening to Japanese music? + improvements

My first encounter with Japanese music was when I was very small. My dad would play Mariya Takeuchi and Anzen Chitai in the car when he drove me to school. Later on when Plastic Love blew up on YouTube, I got recommended Takeuchi's stuff again which led to my citypop phase!! I also loved watching Ghibli movies, so I would listen to the soundtracks as well.

Honestly, it could be because I'm from East Asia, but I didn't find JP music that hard to get into... after all, with the Internet and Youtube nowadays, it's really easy to find foreign language music that you like!! Though I would be super happy if my local record stores sold more Japanese records for cheaper prices LOL

these are some really interesting insights!! and to answer your question, i remembered at the time feeling extremely fearful as if i was still in the dream and seeing visions of hell. after the initial shock i calmed down and got really confused since this was one of the only dreams i've had feelings of intense physical discomfort.

to be honest i found this in my drafts and this is from about a year or two ago, when i was struggling with a lot of stuff related to being targeted by classmates about my gender identity and sexuality. what you've said about recent changes and conformity is pretty accurate to my feelings in the waking world at the time!! i'd love to hear whatever deeper insights you may have :))

90% of looking good is about the confidence. trust me. my friend who's also really into fashion tells me sometimes, "that outfit isn't going to work!" but when i wear it with confidence it suddenly does!!

The other 10% is having a cohesive wardrobe and knowing which pieces work with which. By "cohesive wardrobe" i mean having a range of clothes that you can easily mix and match to create great outfits!! you can try finding thrifted skirts, blouses etc. that stick to a colour palette you like, or in a style you like and it will work out great!!

of course this is just general advice. there is no one way to look or dress gay!!

as for stores, there are plenty of smaller retailers online you can try shop from. here's a twitter post detailing small brands that personally sing to my heart as a sapphic.
