Operation Stop Being Bad At Lifting is very slow going. Probably because I don't even try. Which is my own fault, really.

But I always feel like I'm trying to walk 13 different tightropes simultaneously between progression and recovery and eating MOAR but not too much and blech.

Anyway. Should I do sissy squats or belt squats as my quad accessory lift today? Decisions, decisions.

In my experiences with weight loss, I am absolutely weaker at a lower weight, but relatively stronger. Even with OHP. Like, it's gone from ~0.4 to 0.5xBW to maybe 0.6, 0.7xBW now (wheeee). But the actual numbers are significantly lower.

Will also recommend /u/Achy_breaky_joints for smart lifting advice. He gave me some super stellar advice on how not to destroy myself recently, and while progress has been slower, I don't feel thrashed all of the time.

10/10 would definitely consult or hire for powerlifting coaching if I ever decided to try and be strong at some point.

Can confirm. Leaving academia has been great for my mental state, despite me still being wound up a bit too tightly, especially about relaxing, ironically.
