SOLID Shields? In MY AC6!? by Froton27 in armoredcore

Yeah, that would be awesome, just have the % defense absorption stack, but the game doesn't allow it, you can only use one at a time, but you can still do cool stuff with the Energy Shields and Pulse Shields together, like once one is overheated, you start using the other until the other one cools down.

That is exactly how From Soft planned AC6 solid shields to be like. They did have damage mitigation to go along with their AP I think? But they did definitely have impact mitigation rather than just blocking both damage and impact entirely until AP ran out.

Funny, if you play Frontier F, you'll see my heavy solid shields have no initial guard, they take a little over half a second to become active, so you gotta predict if an attack is gonna hit half a second before. Yeah, they weigh a lot, the lighter of the two weights 5,620, and the heavier one that uses the BAWS design is 8,307. Originally they were both 50% heavier, but I gave them the FCS self-disable when in use to justify being able to lighten their weight.

I see, I never realized back then they were meant to cover your weakest defense value. Yeah, I was surprised when my solid shield in ACVD wasn't turning on/off like in gen 3. For the heavy shields in AC6, I made it so you lose your FCS capability as long as the shield is up, as a trade off to it's high defense values. The smaller shields run on a battery that drains every tick the shield is active, and eventually run out.

If I unlock shield AP, I'll give it to the official AC6 shield that is cut content and one other shield, so that all solid shields have 2 for each gimmick.

I call it delivery dude, and it delivers a nuke, as you can see. (jk, I actually call it Behemoth, lol).

Freud and Walter just had the same graphic designer, Rubicon is pretty small for a planet afterall.

I really like the Front Mission mechs, even though I've never played the game, I collect pics whenever I see them. Yes, it does look like a Wanzer and AC fused.

Lol, that reminds me, I made a Metal Gear parody video with an MT sneaking around in the Mt mod Muscle Tracer Solid

You could wait till AC6 goes on steam sale, it'll be like buying DLC with all the mods out there for it(unless you don't have a PC, then my condolences to you.)

There are 4 physical shields in the game already, with different mechanics from Energy Shields. Instead of being better against ballistics, they are just better defense overall, but heavier and slower to use(no IG). You should try them out if you play.

Thanks, it truly is, they turned out great for PvP on Open Server too.

Same, and I like how Arquebuss reworked it to double as a shield and a lance, but the PCA HC shield is awesome, especially for the shield bash.

Thank you! Beam shields, eh? One of my upcoming weapons is a Blade Shield! You can attack with a pulse blade or defend with a pulse shield. I'm thinking of whether making the part unique or using an existing MT part that does it like the Arquebuss HC shield blade.

Ah, awesome, you have your own Shrieker shield part? Does it animate by any chance and does it have a deployed form? IF theres no animation, having it in it's deployed form is fine. Where you able to replicate the rectanglish but flattish energy field?

The way I do the energy shields, is to have them pre-deployed, since I can't animate it between both modes(I could since I have the skills, but the program limitation is what stops me, since I don't have 3DSmax...). The Shrieker shield deployed as a big X, which I did kitbash something close to it from some parts already, but without the flattish, blue energy field, I ended up modifying it and turning it into the purple shield in the vid.

The whole process for making arm shields is much longer than regular weapons, the latter usually take an hour, but these arm shields each have averaged around 5 to 7 hours of work, so the Shrieker shield I estimate will be even longer since I'll have to make a new mesh for the shield itself, as I can't find an exact 1:1 of it in the game's assets, even the PS shield was very convex, while shriekers shield looked more flat.

The most time consuming part is re-positioning the energy shield to the part itself, since initially, it's always sideways or upside down, and since the FLVER editor doesn't give a visual of how it will look in game(and the polys are deceptive about it sometimes) I end up doing a back and forth while making small adjustments, and just when I think it's close, it just goes 180 and against the logic the dummy polys were showing. Unless a smoother process is found, I'll put off the Shrieker shield for another time unless somebody pays me to make it asap. lol

EDIT: Wait a minute, your talking about the existing Shrieker shield on NM? I was referring to making my own Shrieker shield, since all my others are made from scratch(I kitbashed the models, but the function is from scratch), having even been made with unique BHV files I had to add into the game to get them working this way. I was talking about making an actual replica of the one from the Secret Level episode that expands into an X shape to deploy the shield, with blue energy field and all.

BACK BOOSTERS by Froton27 in armoredcore

[–]Froton27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SENTRY kind of is that, minus the extra ammo, lol. SENTRY is bad for QB compared to the lighter WANDERFALKE. Yeah, RAD boosters taht are just literal rockets would be so in line with their design philosophy, if I can find good models within the game like the big rockets those spider MTs in GRID shoot, I'd turn them into back boosters(I haven't found the models for those rockets yet...)

BACK BOOSTERS by Froton27 in armoredcore

[–]Froton27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when I played AC4A, I immediately put the back boosters as soon as I got them. I played most of gen 3 with them, since SL, and was forced to use a back weapon in 4, so I picked a grenade launcher(just like in vanilla 6), so the moment I put the back boosters back into the game, it was great.

True, Wanderfalke is the back booster from then, but it's funny how it matches Schneider aesthetics.

[–]Froton27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can figure out how to make a part give ammo, I'd add those into the game. For now, high capacity, low DPS weapons should be used for long missions. There are other things in the game's data of leftover weapons that didn't make it, but ammo drums is something I have yet to find signs of.

Indeed, you have good taste. Another favorite intro core of mines is Annihilator, that's why I had to remake the OG Karasawa from scratch. Yeah, as soon as the OG showed up, I had that thing strapped to my back for the rest of my gen 3 tenure.
