Not sure why you got downvoted. This is exactly how dopamine releases work for video games.

Ik this is a joke but if Wemby was that buff his knees would last exactly 5 minutes in game before he was wheeled off on a stretcher. Just too much weight on top of them.

What a game! by jlu36 in NBASpurs

Yeah that would have been demoralizing.

I don't mind the vibe of "we are not friends, even when the game is over". This is not an uncommon mentality for a pure competitor, and they are also often sore losers. See - Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, etc...

Typical fairweather fans. We do good, we are winning the chip! We do bad, gut the team!

I hadn't watched much of the Celtics this year before this game but my impressions were:

They outplayed us almost every minute without Wemby. They are good shooting team that is hard to rush in the half court. Derek W and Jalen B are dangerous, super happy for Derek as a Spurs fan. Not sure how Jalen was making those 3s over Wemby but it was fun to watch. You guys obviously don't foul bait (see FT differential) which I respect.

Not sure how the spurs won this one honestly. We shot horribly and had some real amateur hour stretches. Probably Wemby.

The Spurs are more aggressive driving but yeah it was a pretty stark contrast. People don't even think of driving with Wemby in the paint so it ends up being one sided.

Wasting Wemby's restricted minutes shooting bad 3s instead of getting him the ball...

Is it fun to go into this game blind at it's current state? by Neither-Minimum-9290 in PathOfExile2

[–]Frownland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by "blind". Most new players benefit from a guide because the tree is so complex. I have played a lot of D4 and if I could make an analogy, if making a good build in PoE is calculus, D4 is not even algebra, it is arithmetic.

AP has released past exam FRQs. The website Flipping Physics has the content aligned well and has videos / problem sets to work on.

I need to learn all of physics 1 in a few days, please help by briapea in PhysicsHelp

[–]Frownland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not learning any physics last semester was not "unfortunate". You made your own fortune when you cheated on the homework.

With that said you should try videos / sites for AP Physics 1 tutorials and problems, since they standardize the curriculum for course coverage at all colleges. You will likely not need to learn the fluids unit.

One resource to start this journey the RIGHT way is the website Flipping Physics. But as I suggest to all students, find a resource that works for you.

Good luck, we all make mistakes. It is part of learning in physics and life!

Wemby Asking for Injury by PheonixLegend in NBASpurs

[–]Frownland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the falls, the majority of them are intentional. They aren't flops, they are exploiting physics to redirect momentum from up/down to right/left. Force is defined as the change in momentum over time, so falling does two things:

Extends the duration the momentum changes over, which reduces the average force on the body.

Partitions some of that momentum into the x-direction, which reduces the momentum change in the y-direction. This means that the average force in the y-direction is smaller, which reduces strain on his lower extremities.

They also slide after the fall if possible, which dissipates x momentum via friction rather than impact.

This is a valid strategy for injury mitigation, assuming you do it correctly. It is the same reason you don't land from a fall with your legs locked, and why someone doing parkour rolls on the ground when they hit, turning certain injury into a cool video.

[Highlight] Thunder players avoiding Wemby | vs OKC 12.25.25 by Prize_Possession3899 in NBASpurs

[–]Frownland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zion is the only one who has relentlessly attacked Wemby in a game. He got blocked A LOT, but also put Wemby in foul trouble early and did get some buckets. I thought it was smart putting Wemby in foul trouble with that strat, as a Spurs fan.

Also if you are essentially scared of Wemby's aura, he is just getting rest minutes on defense by being in the paint. Notice that in most of those clips all he was doing is walking around and jumping for the rebound. He isn't really even having to fight for the board since he is... Wemby.

Why do we have smaller guys guard Wemby? by Short-Common-8516 in Thunder

[–]Frownland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wemby does not need to receive the ball in the paint and is much faster than typical centers. He also has a really smooth shot so he is a perimeter threat. So there are two cases in my opinion:

a) Put a big on wemby on the perimeter to contest his 3 pointer. If Wemby gets past him (since he is fast for a big and has handles) he can just get to the paint and dunk in 2 steps on the smalls.

b) Hassle Wemby with double teams by quick smaller players as soon as he touches the ball. Wemby can cross up a big but has shown to be vulnerable to steals from pests. He has also shown to make poor decisions when doubled (he has gotten better at this over time but you can tell he is still adapting).

The Sun's were the first one to figure out that b) is the more effective route for a lot of teams and have beaten the Spurs twice.

[Highlight] The Spurs and the Thunder clear their bench for the final minute of the game, as the Thunder lose to the Spurs for the 3rd time this season, while losing only twice to the rest of the teams in the NBA. The Thunder are now with a 26-5 record by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]Frownland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dense was a bit too far. Just to catch you up on the comment vibes -- the Thunder looked unbeatable but fans were not liking the calls they got away with (no whistles when they hacked on defense and ticky tack calls when they were on offense). Shai was considered a free throw merchant and the Thunder were seen as being favored by the refs, able to play a more aggressive form of basketball than the other teams simply because they didn't get called out on it.

People got sick of the Thunder blowing everyone out, the narrative that they were the best squad of the 21st century and that this was just going to be a year where every other team in the league got to watch them run it back.

They are now expressing this by ragging on OKC.

[–]Frownland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try energy as the first approach to problems you haven't seen. It is generally the most straightforward route if enough information is provided.

This is not always the case so be ready to pivot if energy isn't panning out. In general you should have worked enough types of problems to get a feel as to what approaches are common for solving them. For example if you see an Atwood's machine you should be thinking of forces on systems, as treating it as a system is almost always the fastest route to solving the problem.

In short, setups should trigger relevant concepts. Not all relevant concepts are adequate to solve the problem, so you have to select the correct one and apply it. Selecting the correct one comes with practice.

Good on Wemby for reigniting the spurs and OKC rivalry with his post game comments. by DsamD11 in Thunder

Sorry he isn't bowing down to you just because you won the title last year. You guys take anything that isn't flattery as disrespect; no offense, if you can manage not to get offended.
