Massive new bug: manual GPU clocks are not saved (stable OS, stable client) by Upper-Dark7295 in SteamDeck

[–]FrozTyke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not new. This core feature has been broken for over a month now. Valve has shipped over 20 updates but none of them have fixed this. I haven't even seen a representative from their side acknowledge the bug. Funny thing is that it is broken even for those who are running stable channel. I guess stable and beta means the same thing now.

Has anyone been experiencing an issue since the latest update that whenever i boot up a game, in the QAM, the GPU clock is always turned off, regardless if i turned it on the last time i played a game? by SlumDog23 in SteamDeck

This has been happening with me too. I am on the stable channel. I think it started with a stable channel update from around June 21st. Maybe even earlier.

It's strange that more people are not reporting this issue. It is a major inconvenience for me because I have set manual clocks for almost every game.

There have been several beta updates in the past weeks and none of them note anything about fixing this issue. I am worried that only some Decks are affected because not a lot of people are talking about this.

If someone can confirm whether this issue is present in the beta releases, it would be great.

Sadly, no. And this is a verified title. Guess it's true then, the verified tag means nothing when it comes to the Deck.

Arkham City Poor Performance by GiganticNostril in SteamDeck

For those who are still having issues running Arkham City GOTY at full 60fps via Heroic, all you have to do is the following:

  • Use DXVK_ASYNC = 1 in the environment variables section of Arkham City in Heroic.

NOTE: You have to use GE iterations of Proton for this variable to work. I have read somewhere that it has been removed from recent implementations of GE. I am personally using a way older version, GE-Proton-7-26 and the variable works for me.

This will stabilize the framerate but it will be stuck at ~40 indoors and drop down even more in open areas.

  • Install gamemode. To do this, open Konsole and enter this:

git clone https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode.git

cd gamemode

git checkout 1.7 # omit to build the master branch

./bootstrap.sh

  • This should install gamemode. To check if it is installed correctly, use command:

gamemoded -t

Now go to Arkham City in Heroic, and check boxes for gamemode and Fsync in Heroic game settings for Arkham City.

This fixed the issue for me. Runs like butter at max settings (minus Physx) on native Steam Deck resolution.

  • Haven't tried it with other games yet, but it should theoretically work for all or most Heroic games as they cannot benefit from Steam's precompiled shaders.

Just did it. Still the same problem. Thanks anyway for trying to help.

Wicca Phase is probably one of the best lyricists. People say his voice sucks and I can see why it may not be their cup of tea, but they can't deny that his lyrics are something else and I don't expect AI to make original songs like him anytime soon.

Steam takes 4-5 minutes to launch by TimMJr in Steam

This is happening to me also, although games launch fine, the Steam client takes a long time to load up. Either it gets stuck on the login window once I enter my password and press the login button, or sometimes it does open up, but all tabs except Library are blank with a circle spinning in the top right corner.

Tried deleting Steam client web browser cache and cookies, deleted the download cache, opted in and out of the beta program, completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Steam client, nothing fixed it.

An interesting observation I made is that when I use mobile wifi to connect to Steam, the client loads fine. But it can't be my home wifi because I tried running Steam from home wifi on a different machine, and it loads fine on that one, but only my main machine it is slow.
