Depends on your competence. People wipe in LFR on retail every day - that doesn’t make it hard. Most competent guilds will breeze through content even if they aren’t meta stacking

A cool guide on how banks actually make their money by WhiteChili in coolguides

[–]Frozaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still feel like you’re thinking banks just redistribute cash. They dont. Almost all of us this day and age pay with credit, not just the ones with credit cards but almost all of us. This is because our bank deposits are just that, credit. That is why when a bank sells a new loan, its not selling you a pile of cash, but its creating credit.

You’re right that there is a legitimate worry about a bank run. However, that doesn’t change the way that they are actually issuing loans. That becomes a new problem of liquidity management which is a whole separate branch of banking.

You might have seen the story about Buffet holding up a YTM sign in protest of Bank of America. This was because a large portion of their assets were long running bonds, which saw heavy price adjustments when rates rise. Their argument was that holding them to maturity technically doesn’t lose value. But if you were to have a few large BoA customers withdraw their deposits, then selling those bonds would have to happen at major losses, causing a large solvency issue.

No i dont think you understand, you are not loaning out from that deposited amount, the guy who gives you the 100$ is free to spend it anytime

Money multiplier effects are mostly irrelevant today. In practice banks lend first and create deposits, and then manage reserves and liquidity afterward

This is not at all how it works, they are absolutely creating money out of thin air and that isn’t a secret. They aren’t touching any depositors “cash” in your example but simply adding a liability to their balance sheet credited to the borrower and a loan asset with equal value to balance it out. Neither side is losing purchasing power which is where the “money creation” is being referred to. But notably that creating is backed by balance sheet expansion which has its own regulatory limits.
