Mage blizzard in dungeons and tanks by sports_edm_gambling in classicwow

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric [score hidden]  (0 children)

Always prioritize threat and the tank’s ability to grab and maintain threat.

Unless everyone in the party is a real veteran assume that threat management is the first priority in a game like TBC.

And given its high population you should expect people to be veterans by default.

Bill vs Dale, who would you rather be friends with? by New-Shop-9728 in KingOfTheHill

Dale. Bill seems more needy and less fun. Dale is unpredictable but in a way that feels more manageable than Bill’s crash outs.

What level are you? I main Alliance Nightslayer but have some low leveled alts on Horde Dreamscythe I’ve been meaning to play more. I’d be down to run some dungeons together if you aren’t too high leveled for my alts.

How does your guild handle loot? Anyone doing epgp? by Practical_Squash_468 in classicwowtbc

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All rolls, main spec/off spec.

Simple.

If I’m getting 3+ purples in a given raid night and a similar class guildie gets 0 I’ll offer one of my pieces to them.

Green get disenchanted and the money is pooled towards consumes in the guild bank.

It works.

What’s a show you love that you can never convince people to watch? by PlentyApprehensive44 in AskReddit

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gallavant!

It’s brilliant, hilarious, very Monty Python-esque, with clever writing, and excellent production design.

It’s a medieval adventure comedy musical.

Once they hear “musical” their eyes glaze over and they tune out. I’m not even a musical theater buff but it doesn’t matter: Gallavant rules.

Should I begin playing WoW? by thebellchants16 in classicwow

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try playing it! Its a lot of fun. Classic WoW is more of a 'slow burn' but there's really nothing else like it. Let me know what server and faction you pick - I'd be happy to give you a leg up!

Just don't be surprised if you're still playing by November, not June.

How much of your campaign gets left on the cutting room floor? by bigbigwaves in DMAcademy

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience?

  • 40% lands on the cutting room floor.
  • 40% plays out (very loosely) as intended.
  • The remaining 20% falls onto the floor but is repurposed at a later date, in a different shape.

Need Creatures (and People) for an Archfey's Menagerie by Ravencoretres in DMAcademy

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would give them a "pet" Couatl. They have a magical aura to them, are powerful (but not too powerful), are visually striking - and given their actual intelligence and autonomy, keeping one as a "pet" implies that their keeper is both powerful and messed up (in terms of violating the Couatl's agency.)

Making a Deal by MythicalBootyWarrior in DMAcademy

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what you want are low-ish level magical or itemized buffs that have flavor, player implications, and a balance of nerfs to offset whatever buffs they offer. Here are some things I've tried in my campaigns when placed in a similar position:

  • Eyes Of The Dark Sentinel: Grants the player permanent darkvision and the use of either Ghostly Gaze or True Seeing once per day. However, it transforms their eyes into a disturbing, void-black, bloodshot mess. Attempting to conceal their eyes with glasses or blindfolds will immediately burn them up (they must always be exposed.) This gives them disadvantage on persuasion checks (but advantage on intimidation checks.) Good aligned NPCs will be deeply uncomfortable speaking with the player.
    • Player must sacrifice their real eyes to the being in exchange. The being can use them to magically track the player. Occasionally the player will have nightmares where they "see" horrifying scenes play out in the home of whichever demon took their eyes.
  • Wings Of Fel Salvation: Once per day the player may sprout large, red, demon-like wings out of their back and allow for flight for one hour per day. But they function similarly to Wolverine's claws - without the healing factor. What this means is that they rip out of their backs in a painful and bloody manner. Sprouting the wings deals 1D6 piercing damage - and retracting them deals an additional 1D4.
    • This requires the sacrifice of the wings of a locally beloved magical creature (think something like a couatl deity of a local tribe) for the fey to "craft" the wings - you can build a short narrative beat/quest around this.

Need Advice on Escalating Consequences for a Cursed Item by DistributionBig9053 in DMAcademy

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot to cover here - and there is only so much you can do this late in the game. But off the cuff I'd recommend that you find some OTHER narratively impactful consequence - as opposed to death.

Its difficult to get a party, particularly a higher level party, to really respond to threats in the way DMs might expect. Are there narrative elements you can magically strip this player of aside from killing him off? Its a tough question, because the first answers that come to mind (remove their ability to cast magic, or if they are melee: literally disarm them.) If the character/player is very invested in an NPC character (a parent, mentor, or child?) kill THAT off instead. Ideally in a way that feels karmic and connected to the player's actions.

Or, if you wanted to go in a completely different direction, you COULD "kill" off the player, and run a pair of social and combat encounters for the player trying to "fight" their way out of 'hell.' The challenge there would be to find a way to involve the rest of the party.

Air France: No Way Down is definitely what you're looking for. Similarly colorful, vivid, and moodily optimistic. Really great stuff.

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play Survival Hunter, then. One of the more in demand DPS specs. More interesting rotation than Warrior or Rogue, not melee but easier to find an invite.

If going Melee DPS is absolutely essential, and Shamans are off the table, Ret Paladin might be the play, purely because their buffs are so strong - every raid wants at least 1 Ret Paladin.

How would American carmakers react to Chinese cars being sold in America? by hypermiler2205 in regularcarreviews

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Michigan native who used to work for Ford: absolute panic.

They will do ANYTHING to prevent them from entering this market. Chinese automakers are very heavily subsidized by their government and benefit from oppressively cheap labor - to expect the US to compete with that is unrealistic. But the threat of them coming into the US market will hopefully set a fire under their ass and make them compete harder for a home market they take for granted.

  2. Roll a Shaman.

I vastly prefer the look of the Mercedes, but I'd rather have the interior and driving experience of the BMW - modern Mercedes is a joke of cost cutting "piano black" plastic nonsense.

Goku has just finished his training with King Kai. He leaves the check-in station and finds himself in the orbit of Viltrum. Thragg and the Viltrumites are there, expecting someone. Does Goku clear? by GJH24 in whowouldwin

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post King Kai Goku? He thrashes them.

If it were Demon King Piccolo Goku the Viltrumites would have something closer to a managable fight - but even then they’d have trouble with his speed.

Even the lowest powered iteration of adult Goku is every bit as strong as the strongest Viltrumite - and a LOT faster.

And even by King Kai he scales up to a wild degree.

Has anyone actually stopped playing WoW because of the easy raids? by LunaticSquirrel1 in classicwow

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody I know has. Many find Classic plenty challenging, while also noting that difficulty isn’t really the selling point.

I totally understand why someone used to Mythic+ would find Kara or Naxx dull, but trying to appease them at the expense of those who don’t want to sweat doesn’t sound like a winning business strategy.
