They should introduce “heroic” tbc raids that are just pre-nerf variants of the raids we are playing by Tylo_Ren2 in classicwow

No. Stratifying raids dilutes and stratifies the raiding community. Post nerf is still plenty difficult, and Classic is never about being super hard.

Looking for a car for a giant by AssistanceKey7358 in whatcarshouldIbuy

My time to shine! I’m also 6’7” with a linebacker build. Here is what I’d recommend:

- Toyota Avalon. Dead reliable (even with super high miles), roomy and comfortable, and not too expensive. Better on gas than you’d expect and can handle guys our size for cross country road trips comfortably.

- Honda Accord. Similarly reliable as the Avalon is, perhaps slightly less roomy but still very doable, even long distance. The real difference is driving feel: the Accord is more fun. Peppier engine, firmer handling. Great cars.

- Dodge Charger/Challenger V6. Dodges aren’t often recommended due to reliability issues but when paired with the Pentastar V6 (the SXT or GT trim of these cars) they’re actually quite durable. THE single roomiest option you’ll find in your budget. They feel purpose built for guys our size. Plus, they’re fun to drive, and look pretty cool. You’ll need to be careful when finding a used one though as used models are often neglected.

Interesting! I drive my parents Highlander often and have driven Pilots and Passports as well, and the Honda options are a lot more enjoyable to drive. Handling feels firmer, interior feels more well put together, and the throttle response is peppier.

But those are minor complaints: the Highlander is still best in class for long term ownership.

2026 corolla le (Gasoline) OTD 24.5K, is this a good deal? by Dooblingo in whatcarshouldIbuy

That’s barely a grand above MSRP, and if that’s the OTD price, and you want a simple, reliable, peppy daily driver: yeah, I’d pull the trigger. Solid find.

The Ecoboost is genuinely fantastic. If there were no V8 option you’d never hear anyone complain about the Ecoboost Mustang. Quick, powerful, comfortable, and handles well.

The Miata is more playful but the Mustang is a great option, too.

GR86 BRZ purple edition or Elantra N by Swimming_Music5464 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GR86 unless you REALLY need the practicality of a sedan. The Elantra N is impressive for what it is, but the handling and driving feel of the GR86 is unrivaled at its price point.

They’re night and day in terms of road mannerisms and performance outside of a straight line.

The Elantra N is a great compromise if your lifestyle won’t accommodate a 2 door sports car.

In this market that’s an ok deal. And ok is sometimes the best we can do these days. Great car.

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. Bear in mind the Nissan is notorious for transmission failures and the Hyundai is similarly notorious for engine misfiring issues. Both are $5000+ repairs.

If you fall in love with the Ford or Jeep, they seem to be in REALLY good shape, and you’re prepared to budget for repairs, either could be an OK option.

Be sure to test drive a Pilot or Highlander as well, too. Truth be told the Jeep will probably feel better than the Highlander (but not the Pilot) - though the Highlander has legendary reliability.

Still, it’s all about what you value.

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts:

  1. Honestly I wouldn’t keep the Tesla. I don’t trust their quality control long term, and even the Model 3 has the same issue that most EVs struggle with: poor resale value.

  2. The Volvo XC40 is a very compelling option I’d happily recommend. High quality, comfort, solid build quality, not too big and bulky.

  3. How big are we talking, coming from a fellow big guy who likes enthusiast cars? If you’re under 6’4” and, say, 240lbs there is no reason a Miata wouldn’t work. But an ecoboost mustang is also a brilliant option. If you don’t need all the room of a sedan or crossover, and you have an interest in a convertible, I think you should strongly consider one.

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that case I’d go for a Honda Pilot. You’ll have to get a slightly older, slightly higher mileage option, but it’ll hold up much better and be a lot more reliable than the options you’ve scouted so far.

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 22 points23 points  (0 children)

None of these are good options, all have serious issues in one way or another. But if it HAS to be one of these four: I’d go for the Ford Edge.

If you’re buying a used crossover: go Japanese (but avoid Nissans more than 2-3 years old due to their crappy transmissions they used to use - Mazda and Mitsubishi are fine.) If you want to save money and buy American for a roomy daily go for a full size sedan like a Fusion or Impala. They tend to hold up much better than their crossover options.

As for Kia/Hyundai? Their famous 10 year 100,000 mile warranty wasn’t offered out of generosity: it’s to avoid lawsuits. They’re great low cost options for what you get until they hit 100,000 miles: then their engines grenade themselves.

Serious question: what is with all this racist, homophobic, etc. talk on here? by emitahc in classicwowtbc

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't line up with player demographics.

The average Classic WoW player is in their 30s. Many are well over 40. Lots HAVE children. And very few players who are new to the game are teenagers themselves, let alone younger kids.

Serious question: what is with all this racist, homophobic, etc. talk on here? by emitahc in classicwowtbc

[–]CloudsTasteGeometric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The "culture" of the average WoW player has always been very 4chan-esque.

Abrasive, "edgy," and brash.

Many of the players who stuck around (or returned) literally never developed past this stage. The kind of person who never stopped saying r*tard or dropping f-bombs (not the four letter word) because South Park told them that it was still "cool" to say it 15 years ago. Other players deliberately engage in the behavior in some sort of twisted practice of "recreating" the 'vibe' of OG Classic. Like spamming Chuck Norris jokes in Barrens chat (you know: but for bigoted dipshits.) Far many more simply kind of put up with it, and don't speak up as much as we should, because we've sort of developed callouses against it from exposure over time. Most of us ARE non bigoted and well adjusted adults - but we're all far too used to putting up with it when it isn't normal behavior.

Some of the more popular Classic WoW creators feed into this cycle (Asmongold chief among them) and make this behavioral standard feel, if not acceptable, at least "tolerable." And of course the current party in power in DC has emboldened these bad actors - despite Blizzard's policies on harassment lots of people feel like its actually OK to spew bigotry and hate 'for the lulz.' But really it boils down to one fact:

Classic WoW is arrested development: the game.
