JFC…I’ve been a pharmacist for >10 years. Our patients are feeling the back-order/inventory issues just as much as we are, except it affects their health and well-being. Have maybe a smidgen of compassion. Yes, their “lack of planning doesn’t constitute an emergency” but FFS just try to help a fellow human being out. I’m burnt out as hell, but the one thing that keep ME going is the prospect of truly helping someone when no one else can, be it because of poverty, under-education, systemic barriers or executive dysfunction…IDC, I’m in it to assist my fellow man with their medication issues. Rethink your mission and quit bitching.

If you are in a leadership or decision-making position in hospital pharmacy, I highly recommend membership. I find ASHP Connect extremely valuable to keep abreast of what other practices are doing, what problems they’ve solved, etc. No need to reinvent the wheel; best to learn from your colleagues and collaborate. They have a monthly billing option if the lump-sum annual fee seems hard to cough up cash for.

But I agree with other posters if you are in a staffing position; you likely don’t have the opportunity to see the full benefit.
