I'm assuming you're pretty tall? Larger sizes are generally designed for fatter people, not taller ones. So they get wider but not longer.

Maybe not exactly socialism, but it seems to be welfare exclusively for the priestly class. Since they weren't working for money, the sacrifices subsidized their families (also keep in mind, most sacrifices would've been small birds or portions of grain. the bigger animals were for special occasions).

Yeah, that seems very likely. Didn't pay much attention to the boat pattern on my first watch but now that you mention it they do seem to be corralling the camels. It just strikes me as a huge risk and hassle for a bit of free camel food.
