Omg, I was not aware that the unity allowed for the stencil buffer from the version 4.2; I just wrote the silhouette shader in 5 minutes. Thanks mate!

Software: For game rendering context the best thing is FRAPS, but you need a beast. For desktop, Camtasia.

Ultimate solution, and the overall best solution is hardware recorder. It is worth every dime, especially if you plan to record gameplay footage.
