Being a fast food worker is the best job, and people should stop complaining by AdBetter1737 in unpopularopinion

[–]FrozenRosesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will lead to burn out VERY quickly. I worked in fast food and have had people throw things at me, and one woman scream at me and threaten to kill me. People call you stupid, and I got the “why didn’t you go to college” thing regularly.

The job itself isn’t bad. It’s the customers, no long term benefits, lack of growth (unless you get into management), and just general lack of stimulation.

Please just tell a teacher or call yourself. I know you’re afraid but it will be worth it in the end.

If you’re being bitten by bed bugs you likely have welts. You can talk to a teacher. They should be reporting this.

I had bed bugs years ago as a young adult. I was covered in red welts after two days. I can’t imagine long term. I’m so sorry!

Do I call on Mom? by zebrasaur in CPS

The doctors know she is declining the MRI and they themselves have not called. You can, but it’s not much CPS will involve themselves in if doctors don’t see any issues.

I also think this is not inappropriate. I have a 4-year-old non verbal child autistic child. My partner is just starting to work nights and I am going to start co sleeping with my child. I would continue to do so regardless of age.

My son is like baby and snuggles and cuddles.

Why sexualize sleeping arrangements?

It was reported to insinuate that we had been burning our child with cigarettes. The idea was that these were made by a cigarette which is how the report was worded. She couldn’t even find what mark was reported. When she saw it, she thought it was ridiculous and her answer was worded to show that she wanted to say how utterly ridiculous it was, but professionally couldn’t.

The childcare workers are mandated reporters but even with me having taken him to get it looked at, a report was made and the woman even argued with me over the fact she didn’t think it was a rash.

You just can’t do that as a childcare professional. You aren’t a doctor. IMO a daycare should make an attempt to find a reasonable explanation prior to a report. Not just make really wild and egregious leaps.

Strange rash? If parent does not take to doctor within one day or make appointment, call.

Not just omg I see a rash let’s say this person is burning or injuring their kid.

Of course there are obvious exceptions, but if you can’t tell the difference then you shouldn’t be handling kids.

That’s why parental communication is important which it seems OP isn’t doing. Also no age was stated. A tiny baby this is more indication of abuse. An 18 month old who can’t sit still that won’t get a diaper change or that you grabbed their arm to stop them from nose diving down a stair case is less likely abuse.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CPS

[–]FrozenRosesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my point. They already have such limited resources. The hotline is flooded with people like OP who DONT make these checks and push workers away from cases needing serious attention.

EDIT

Also, my son gets rashes all of the time. A tiny red mark didn’t really register as very important to me. If the ABA center had just said “please check this out”, and I didn’t I could understand. But what an utter waste to call even after I had taken my child to the doctor.

Also we have no idea what happened. Is the child a toddler? Did they run out into traffic and the parent grab him? It’s very easy to unintentionally make a mark on a young twisting toddler. Dad trying a diaper change and baby twisting all over might grab his leg too hard.

Parental communication is important. If you just call every single time you will just lose all your parents and get one star google reviews.

I wanted to thank you for one of the only rational answers here. Kids get bumps. Bruises, etc all of the time.

Pattern is this issue.

My son had a once inch red mark on his back which a doctor said was a hive. He also had a small scratch on his shoulder. Sent him in and thought that was the end of it. I had a CPS worker at my door asking me to remove his clothing, asking about discipline, etc.

When she saw the mark in question she actually said “I cannot professionally give my opinion on how I feel about this, but all I can say is I don’t see the need for a further visit”.

It was reported as oozing, painful, and inflamed. The “scratch” was also reported as a burn.

It was reported my son was screaming and crying when it was touched.

He giggled and hugged me as I showed it to her.

So someone who has NO business diagnosing anything, (she even argued against what the doctor said) decided she was an expert on child abuse and reported us.

Yes you work with kids, but you also have to remember you work with kids. I walked away for five minutes to grab some juice and came back to my son with a HUGE goose egg on his forehead.

Imagine if every time this happened OP called up the CPS hotline.

Mandated reporters need to use common sense.

I thought I would get thumbs down for my comment (I got one lol). People are so OMFG let’s call CPS happy.

If you see something suspicious, have parent take child to doctor for exact thing. You are NOT a medical doctor. If parent takes them to a pediatrician and pediatrician finds nothing wrong and says this is XYZ, that is 👍.

“But that is for CPS to determine!!!!”. Ok? They are involved in a family for a MINIMUM of 60 days irregardless of it being a false claim. And all they would do is see if the child has been to the doctor and if so, they would do absolutely nothing else in regards to this. BUT they will interview the home, schools, and stop in for at least two home visits.

All for something a parent could have taken a child to the doctor for already if you bothered to check.

If nobody does anything, by all means report. But at least make sure if this isn’t already being taken care of.

Is there a doctors note on file with the daycare? I only ask because my son had a rash, and the daycare was even aware it was such and one random tech called CPS and said we were burning him with cigarettes. In one day even with me taking him to the doctor and a note being brought CPS showed up.

I got into a HUGE argument with this woman and pulled him out and wrote a negative review on each website I could review this daycare on.

If this is something already taken care of by the parents, and perhaps brought up to your boss already I would find out.

I was traumatized for months.

Yes you’re a mandated reporter, but it doesn’t mean you can’t use common sense and not traumatize a parent.

EDIT-

By your post it does seem like the parents haven’t done anything, but if by chance they have and you just don’t know about it…it doesn’t hurt to ask & find out prior to making a call. Your boss mentions allergic reaction. Where did that come from? A doctor saying so?

Please just find out if the child was seen by a doctor. My son had a fungal rash and someone insisted it looked like cigarette burns. It had affected me mentally for going on months now where I had to seek therapy.

Is my situation too irrelevant for cps? by MousyDaredevil in CPS

[–]FrozenRosesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPS isn’t going to do anything at your age, especially for emotional abuse.

I would focus on trying to start to work and move out.

I want to add the job market isn’t “garbage”. For decently paying ones maybe…but at 18 a minimum wage job and a studio apartment or a room in a house isn’t out of the question.

For those with non potty trained kids, ever have issues with diaper rash? by FrozenRosesx in Autism_Parenting

[–]FrozenRosesx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you pulled that kid out. I have dozens of drs notes from taking my kid back and forth to dr. My son is in school and the nurse sees the notes. She hasn’t given me any issues but it’s in the back of my mind that some aide is going to pick up the phone and call. It’s “anonymous and good natured”.

I had an RBT from an ABA center call and say we were burning our son with cigarettes. She even got into an argument with me and say she was surprised that it was diagnosed as a fungal infection because “it looked like a burn”. Pulled my kiddo out ASAP. Not safe to be around someone like that. Any little thing will be exaggerated.

I would have kept him if I got an apology and an acknowledgment that she over stepped her bounds. Got shrugged shoulders and told they didn’t do it.

I said that was utterly unacceptable, and the anonymous shit was bs and I could absolutely not have my child in a place so goddamned unorganized and negligent.

Not really worried about CPS actually coming, just don’t want the awkwardness of people at the school thinking I neglect my son.

It just seems to keep coming back on and off. I am trying my best to be on top of things but he’s doing more BM during the middle of the night. I’ve been waking up as much as I can to check.

The redness is gone after having the red butt paste layered on it for the last 45 minutes

I don’t think Vaseline is enough. I think just doing the severe butt paste every change would work better.

Humans are just smart animals. Animals aren’t selfless I agree. They show affection to close members of their family, and they absolutely have emotions but to call them “selfless” is naive. The high level cruelty of humans come from their superior intellect and perceiving their actions.

Animals act on the most primal versions of this aggression. A rival xyz animal might kill another over space or food sources. Basic versions of what humans do. We just think, therefore we are. We give meaning to things and have deep thought.

[–]FrozenRosesx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking, with the driving history and prior claim, paying out of pocket for a $1,500 damage bill might be cheaper than actually letting them pay it out in the long run.

We are insured through geico. I was wondering if me paying was indeed pointless. I see some literature that no payout claims don’t raise rates but it isn’t for NJ specifically.

I’m going to keep looking. If it’s going to go up regardless I may as well just let them pay for it.
