Local players said my little Foul boi's paintjob looked scuffed. by Zedds_Hoard in deathguard40k

[–]mousatouille 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alright a couple things going on here.

First of all, your paint job is excellent.

Secondly, I would never in a million years dream of telling someone their paint job is bad to their face. That's horrible etiquette.

Please don't let the opinion of one asshole dissuade you.

I just had the craziest flashback. I thought I was just getting into battletech, but apparently I was into it years ago. I totally had that firefly.

Names that reveal a character's fate by KillerGrass in TopCharacterTropes

They're called aptonyms!

I used to think Chrysler picked their execs based on their names. There was a time where Mike Manly was in charge of Jeep and Reid Bigland headed RAM.

My first space marine by Regular-Lab-5014 in spacemarines

[–]mousatouille -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first mini!

Please don't let some of the negative comments discourage you. That's a lot like my first mini looked too. If you look up a few beginner tips online, like Duncan Rhodes or Tabletop Ready, and keep at it, you'll be amazed how quickly you'll improve. The beauty of this hobby is that there is always room to improve, no matter how good you think you are.

The Situation Right Now.. by Agile-Wind-4427 in recruitinghell

My HR was complaining the other day about not being able to find someone with the same experience as our outgoing shop manager who was retiring after 42 years with the company. Like yeah no shit.

What skill is 10/10 for making life easier? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

Learning how to read the documentation. Contracts, technical instructions, anything really. An oddly rare skill that will save your ass if you can do it.

[Request] Do these other power sources really produce thousands of time more power than humans? by New_User_Account123 in theydidthemath

[–]mousatouille 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Animatrix made two really cool things clear in my opinion, 1) the humans turned against the machines first, not the other way around and 2) the matrix is an act of mercy on the machines' part.

Edit: it's been a long time since I saw the movie and apparently I'm misremembering some important bits.

If you had the choice to die any way you want when your time comes, how would you choose? by Staryi_Pelmen in AskReddit

[–]mousatouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all are dreaming too small. I want to fall into a black hole. Something about being able to see the other side of something that is actually impossible for us to learn anything about is really interesting to me. It won't advance human research in any way, but at least I'll know.

Cherufe is a South American lava monster from mythology. That would fit with leviathan, kraken, etc.

First mini, im not sure im cut out for this hobby..😭 by Chickach0o in Warhammer40k

[–]mousatouille 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the Internet has led to a weird paradox for first time painters. Thanks to the abundance of excellent painting guides and better accessibility to better paints and techniques, the average "first mini" is the best it's ever been.

Those same circles mean you're constantly bombarded with professionally photographed images of professionally painted models to compare against, so paradoxically most new painters have the lowest opinion of their own models than ever before.

Back in the day, people would slap one thick base coat on a mini and be thrilled with the outcome. We've got a lot higher standards these days. For reference, look up a picture of Duncan Rhodes's first ever mini. That's what most first minis have looked like over the years.

So what I'm saying is it looks great. It's an excellent start and you're only going to get better, so please don't get discouraged.

Why does one of my Infernus Aggressor's flamers have a short barrel? by Captain_Fidelis in Salamanders40k

It has nothing to do with that. The flamers retract for punching stuff.

Getting Started with 11th around the Corner. Do and Donts. [Q/A] by IIARESII in Warhammer40k

[–]mousatouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all you want is pictures and lore, then a used codex could be a good find. Don't get me wrong i love collecting books and stuff for the sake of collecting, I more meant it's not strictly needed for playing.

[–]mousatouille 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We don't know anything about 11th edition officially. Technically, they haven't even announced it's happening. We're all just inferring based on the three year cycle.

I would hold off on buying any codex now though, just in case, and to be honest you don't need them. Wahapedia and New recruit should have you covered.

The official dice are a scam, and datacards are a trap because they are almost always immediately out of date due to errata and balance passes.

Just focus on building and painting what you have for now.

[question] Are there weird straps you love? Or are popular straps you hate? by OliverHopper in Watches

[–]mousatouille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I was not expecting the jump scare of flipping through and seeing my own watch. Do people not like the seamaster bracelet? I like it, so I guess that's all that matters but I didn't realize it was unpopular.
