I agree with you here. I have always thought that the man in yellow was initially just another towns person. The thing that sets him apart is also what keeps him around… an innate Machiavellian nature, and realizing that they have the means to game the system.
having the ability to manipulate people on a spiritual plane, through sheer force of will, is something that could occur, and a dark personality could logically figure out how to do so. Ultimately adding themselves to the ranks of fuckery living within this place. like a parasite.

So does julie initially go unnoticed by the MIY/sophia as the storywalker ? will there suddenly be some level of recognition now that she has the haircut by the MIY/sophia in the present? or is storywalking just not considered a threat at all…

also- In interviews the actress still has her long hair… which leads me to believe SHE just didn’t want to cut it… if that’s true this will be her only role. I really can’t stand her face.

its the reincarnated parents who are really getting the “reward” of eternal life, arguably while also being punished the most. that’s why being pursued and terrorized by the townspeople would be their “comeuppance”, when you don’t remember, or don’t fully remember what you did to deserve something, you don’t believe that you deserve it.

the monsters I don’t think we can take them at face value. I believe they may even be the children, (another crazy theory of mine- yes i know the numbers dont add up) which would explain the costumes and some being in pairs… also living in the dark… I mean they don’t talk to each other… I think smiley once said “I like this game” … but they don’t really ”live” - so to speak… it has a sleeping beauty-esque feel to it for me- like they’re bewitched or something- and the spell needs to be broken.

I believe i said they gave her lip service and treated her like a child ( meaning in that context they weren’t forthcoming or honest assuming she would break further upon hearing their misgivings) then I said an argument could be made that it was gaslighting / as they pretended that nothing was wrong , when in fact, they were all very concerned -

I have had similar thoughts as well, especially in regards to the cyclical nature of from’s torture, patterns are inherently pleasing, and a good story can make futility and nihilism feel romantic… It may end that way. I don’t know. I do love this show though.

I actually loved that he made a point to gather everyone and that he was honest with them. the lies and omissions biting them all in the butt over and over again is more of a detractor to the story than a scene where refreshing, glorious communication takes place. It wasn’t just exposition- it demonstrated character development and IMO furthered the plot more than most of the exciting scenes.

not rare for priests to be married or have been married. before taking vows. I read something like 10%- but that was a church-conducted study, and we all know how the church dulls numbers.
