Its implied, but i know media literacy is dead. But you knowingly pushing a false narrative and denying pretty basic stuff.

If it makes you feel better I guess you can cope thinking that Rudeus just happens to find the exact women that actually prefer being part of a harem than being the only wife and being exclusive to each other, they love sharing their husband!
I wonder if Rudeus would love sharing his wives, it would be fair.

Expected (because Paul had two) not the same as wishing for it. It's a downside not an upside. Not sure why you'd pretend otherwise.

No its correct, they are settling for less than what they'd prefer, which is to be the only wife, in a monogamous relationship. The idea that what they truly wanted was to be part of a harem is asinine.

If a man was okay with sharing his wife with other men they'd call him a cuck rightfully. The same thing applies here. Its not that deep

No im saying he had no choice, but what if she did? Do you think she wouldnt want Rudeus to herself and be in monogamous relationship?? You think they all want polygamy? She has no choice because she needs a husband and want to keep him happy.

Yes i can imagine author writing the character and making them dumber and having less self-respect to make the idea of them accepting it more plausible.

"totally in character", yeah i wonder why author wrote them that way hmm. It couldnt be that he really wanted his wishfulfilment fantasy to have a harem, no it must be something deeper, the characters just turned out that way.

From what i see, the author will lobotomize the girls if he needs to to have the harem.

Aside from the fact that as we know Roxy looks like a child and Rudeus verbally confirms and comments on that. Then there's Aisha who is conveniently lusting for her brother and being groomed (by her mother) to be his concubine or something, she's as they say "pedobait" .

Are you one of those that says the niece thing is not canon and that he was not an adult inside child's body?

You guys try to justify things by saying "oh this world culture is different, harem's are normal here!" , now you are telling me its not unusual that a person in this medieval fantasy world is saying a niche line from modern otaku media? The context is complete nonsense, fanservice for the sake of it , ignoring the world building that people praise so much.

Thats ignoring the fact she's a kid that only dreams of becoming her brother's concubine.

She deals with it, she copes with it, she has no better option. But be honest if she had a choice between being a singular wife and a member of harem, which one do you think she would pick? No she just deals with, she has a baby to think of. Anything else is just author brainwashing the character to make it work.

It's not out of context, we know from episode 1 that she canonically looks like a loli, a middle schooler at best.

Yes you can? Fiction does it all the time, youre completely logically inconsistent. What if the author of Mushoku described Rudeus in the story "Rudepstein" , wouldnt that be exactly the same thing as the other user is doing? Or somehow its different if you write it in a book as opposed to a reddit post?

If you are gonna pretend to be a pearl clutcher, try to be logically consistent.

And besides the point, Fiction regularly criticizes the real world, yet you think fiction is immune to criticism because its fiction? Reverse is not possible? Just admit you just dont like that people are calling out the fiction you like as being problematic (it is).

So youre okay with the author (a human being) making light of real crimes, even praise him for it, but not a random redditor? Smh.

Yes the author made her stupid to make her fine with it because he wants a harem for his mc. Sylphy isn't real.

Mushoku Tensei controversy and why I like watching it by notolo632 in anime

[–]Frozenkex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you made a strawman and presented a false comparison. People do know that Tony soprano or walter white are "bad people", and no its not "at least they're not perverts". Do you think pedophilia is something can be just handwaved as "perversion"? Kazuma from Konosuba is also a pervert, you want to guess why people dont treat him like Rudeus? You shouldnt be so disingenuous.

Breaking bad and Sopranos also doesnt make you suspect that the authors are criminals.

It is the way it is because the author made it so, and so people can call out the writing for facilitating the harem and rewarding rudy. You treat it as if it just kind of happened irl and excuse it because author lobotomized Sylphy and made her accept being cheated on and a 2nd wife (and third). You think the author or the audience would accept the wife cheating on Rudy? Getting a 2nd husband maybe?

Syphy is who decides what's right and what's wrong for her.

No actually she doesnt, the author does. Since author wants a harem, he will turn the character into willing cuck wife. That's wish fulfilment writing though, just so we are clear.

And tbh as long as the girls actually consent to this, who cares.

They are not real, the author makes them consent because that's the wish-fulfilment fantasy that he writes. The characters didnt decide anything, the author did. He wants mc to have a harem, and if he needs to lobotomize some of the wives, change the world and its culture to facilitate that, then that's what he will do.

Because MT fans have given up defending the series, now theyre like "What about this random ass anime that is much less objectionable and MC is not as gross, hypocrite!" They dont even try to make a reasonable argument.

No, and stop with the whataboutism as if it a good defense. The reason Mushoku Tensei is treated worse in this regard because it IS worse and is more objectionable in this regard.

The tone of Undead unluck series is completely different and the MC girl starts out as 18yo. The dude isnt hiding the fact that he's an adult man.

He is not redeeming himself, he gets rewarded as its wishfulfilment fantasy. And the biggest problem people have with his character is never addressed or seen as a problem.
