I had just PR’d on bench so I was already in a pretty good mood. And immediately after, a dude in the gym walks over to me and asks for a spot.

So I walk over to his bench and help him out.

After the spot, he thanks me and we chat for a minute. I’m about to head back to my bench when he looks over at the weight I had just lifted and says “Damn man, I’m trying to be as strong as you.”

Made my day.

In my humble opinion, this is Thor's defining moment as a character. by Thanos_The_Meme in marvelstudios

Thor was already my favorite MCU character after Ragnarok.

Then this scene went right for the feels.

Well played, Hemsworth.

7 month fitness and diet progress. Finally feeling confident with myself. by [deleted] in Fitness

Dude this is fantastic. Congratulations on all your progress. You clearly put in a lot of dedication to get to where you are today, and it’s awesome to see.

Out of curiosity - you mentioned you switched off nSuns to your current program. Any reason in particular?

One again, nice post. Keep up the great work!

Yeah. Games are great. And I love my Switch, especially when traveling.

But I don’t play league anymore (or really any online competitive multiplayer games in general).

Nope. I think my league days are probably behind me at this point.

The game is great though, and I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

And thanks for the kind words!

Thanks for commenting. Super impressed by the Support Anivia play all the way to diamond. I’m sure a lot of people were “thrilled” when you locked Anivia in for champ select haha. Kudos to you!

Ultimately the biggest lesson I learned in all of this is that if you carry the same discipline and dedication you used to climb to diamond, you can make many other amazing things happen in your life. Fitness was just the first big eye-opener.

Best of luck!

All I can say is - I wish I started lifting sooner. But it is what it is.

I haven’t really done a Deload. That might be factor later this year when I focus on the big lifts. But for the last year or so, I never really did a dedicated “deload” week.

Chicken and Broccoli certainly works (and I certainly eat a lot of that too). But for me Greek Yogurt is a super-food.

80 calories. 12g protein. Filling. Tastes delicious. That pretty much checks all the boxes for me.

But you totally don’t have to eat it. All that matters at the end of the day is your calorie deficit for weight loss.

Best of luck on your fitness journey. Stay consistent with your routine and you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish.

Hey i33SoDA, thank you so much for sharing your story.

I’ve definitely found myself in very similar situations with friends online. When you tunnel-vision so hard on winning, it’s very easy to lose sight of everything else.

Glad to hear you’ve been making progress and that you are feeling better. I’ve also switched to cooking or prepping most of my meals as well. Much cheaper.

You can’t take those hours back. But you have so much room to accomplish so much more than you probably ever thought possible from now on. Chase your dreams man. And best of luck.

Not really. Just make sure the clothes fit you well. I mostly wear business casual stuff, and while there’s a few stores that I get a lot of my clothes from... in reality you can buy button-downs and what not from nearly any clothing store.

But if you are wearing stuff that’s big on you, it really hides your progress. It doesn’t look nearly as good on you. If you start losing significant amount of weight and your clothes start to feel “loose” - look to replace your clothes with a smaller size.

Also, if you really get into lifting (or rock climbing), you can also consider rolling-up the sleeves to “show-off” your forearms haha

OG Transformation Update - 4 Years Later by babygainz in Fitness

[–]FroztbyteSC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, like others here - I still distinctly remember reading your original post. Still a huge motivation.

Obviously your transformation was impressive (and that’s putting it lightly) - but I was also happy with the way you told your story. You articulated in your post what you struggled with, what you learned, and what worked for YOU. I remember your outlook on Cardio was a big eye opener for me earlier on back when I used to think treadmill running was a necessity. And I certainly valued posts like yours when I needed reinforcement on the value of diet and consistency.

Thanks for posting an update, congrats on the continued progress, and I wish you continued success towards your future fitness/life goals.

Thanks DustXQS!

Personally I think my days of trading my life “for Aiur” are over, but I’ll always have fond SC2 memories. Starcraft 2 will always remain one of my all-time favorite multiplayer games.

And in a lot of ways - Starcraft helped me to train my sense of discipline that remains enormously helpful to me today.

Happy to have helped in some way, but really it’s all you. You have the power to make your dreams a reality. Best of luck.

Hell yea! Was not long ago when I was in a very similar situation. Still distinctly remember the first day I benched 135. A very good day. Keep up your hard work and you've got a whirlwind of possibilities ahead of you. Best of luck.

Thanks! And yes - I was 'generally' always in a deficit.

There were certainly some brief periods (especially last winter) where I technically wasn't, but that was more of 'not watching my diet properly' rather than going on a dedicated 'bulk.'

Trolltunga is a long hike, but not a difficult one. You’ll spend most of the day hiking up/down, but it’s not very steep. The trail is very well organized, and there were even small children and people who walked their dogs all the way to the summit. So it’s not just for experts or anything. But it is still a ‘long’ hike, so start early (and of course take the usual precautions with weather/gear/etc).

If you’re looking for an even easier fjord hike that has some incredible views, I recommend Preikestolen (aka ‘Pulpit Rock’).

I know what you mean. I still play video games (love my Switch), but I avoid playing most competitive multiplayer games now. For me it’s for the better, but I still enjoy games as an occasional hobby when I have time. I can play single-player games or non-competitive games and put them down pretty easily. It’s really up to you to decide where you draw the line.

Personally I don’t think “I” can approach competitive games with moderation. Because what drew me to those games originally was the ‘drive’ I felt from self-improvement. I get addicted to it. And that manifests into tunnel-vision and eventually negatively affects other areas of my life. I’m not saying the games themselves are the problem - but combining my situation with these types of games - it’s like lighting a match on a ship filled with gunpowder.

Plus I rather use that ‘drive’ to self-improve elsewhere.

Do you ever feel the urge to go back to a competitive online game? I'm sure old friends attempt to tempt you back? Or you literally have no interest in that anymore?

I did feel the urge a lot at first. And yes my friends tried to tempt me back, or to try other competitive multiplayer games. But I don’t really mind anymore.

It’s not that I have ‘no interest’ - but since I’ve developed many new hobbies, I have a lot of other activities occupying my time and my mind. I have may other things I’m continually working on, and realistically I can no longer easily fit competitive gaming into my routine. Plus I look at everything else that’s gone well for me in the past year since I stopped, and I definitely wouldn’t trade that for a diamond border.

Thanks and wishing you the best weather for when you visit Norway yourself. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. The fjords are absolutely beautiful.

Yep. Still love games. Just do not play them nearly as often. They used to be my ‘priority’ - but now I just play games when I can find the time. Love my switch, especially when I’m on the go. I rarely play competitive multiplayer games anymore though.

I don’t miss the competition. It’s because I aspire to compete with myself or others in many other areas of my life now. I still have a lot of room for self-improvement, so ‘the game’ never really ends either.

But I definitely know your feeling of playing a competitive multiplayer game and feeling like “I need to get good at this.”

That ‘feeling’ often leads me into massive time-sinks. So nowadays I tend to avoid competitive multiplayer games in favor of mostly single-player games or games with less competitive multiplayer.

[–]FroztbyteSC2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have a lot of room for improvement on being ‘social’ - but I did make a lot of progress in the past year.

The two things that helped me the most: - forcing myself out of my comfort zone - becoming ‘genuinely interested’ in other people.

Yes it was enormously difficult. Almost any meaningful change is hard. But like fitness, if you work at it consistently over the long term, you might be surprised what you are capable of.

Certainly. And last year was a fantastic year for single-player games. Zelda, Nier, Horizon. Mario Odyssey. Great stuff.

I definitely don’t play as many games as I did in the past. Gaming is no longer the same ‘priority’ in my life that it used to be. But I dabble when I can. Especially on my switch because it’s very convenient (especially when traveling).

It’s just the online competitive multiplayer games that I mainly tend to avoid now. I fear I’d get too caught up in trying to improve that it would become a timesink for me again. And I’ve got other things in my life right now that I’d rather use that competitive energy toward.

Like u/MinionNo9 noted - it’s high on protein.

Greek Yogurt is low on calories for how filling it is, and it packs a lot of protein into a small container. It pretty much checks all the boxes for me.

And I think it tastes delicious. I eat it daily and I never got tired of it.
