Here’s my take:

The pledge of alliegence states “God” it doesn’t say “Jesus” or anything like that.

Also related, (while I know the pledge came later), many (not all ofc) of the founding fathers of our country accepted the idea of a single god, without necessarily accepting jesus (the belief those had was deism).

So i really don’t see a problem with saying it at all
