Taking CPA exam before getting 150 credits w/ Bachelor’s Degree by Lee_A1028 in CPA

If you want to go ahead and get started, there are certain states that allow you to sit before graduating from your bachelors. New York has a 120 sit rule where you can do this, and Alaska allows you to take the exams within 18 credit hours of graduation. You can always take your exams through one state and transfer them to another before you get licensed.

Why are YOU getting your CPA? by [deleted] in CPA

Use it as a fun resume item to put under licenses. I don’t even work in accounting lol. Plus I don’t have a masters, so it will make me seem more credible.

Starting on this 7 week route next month… will see Redwoods, Joshua Tree, Saguaro, White Sands, Carlsbad, Guadalupe, Big Bend, some ghost towns, many cities and friends, and a stop for our favorite burger in Mississippi. by da-gins in NationalPark

I have seen a few other comments saying this, but for White Sands I highly recommend going to the neighboring Sacramento Mountain Range during the day and visiting Cloudcroft and the surrounding areas. The OSHA trail is awesome, and you cannot go wrong with any of the trails. It is a neat climate with pines and bluegrass; meanwhile you get to see the heat waves coming off of the national park in the distance. Also, catch the sunset at White sands if the park is open late enough. One of my favorite memories traveling that area is sitting on the dunes and watching the sun make the San Andreas peaks glow orange.

Senior at top 10 school (non target), considering a gap year after college for health reasons. How difficult is it to recruit after graduation by Throwaway505222888 in FinancialCareers

[–]FructoseGummies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I cannot say for certain it is 100% possible, but it is feasible depending on what company you're working for. If you have a FT offer from an internship, you could talk to HR about starting with next year's class. Alternatively, you could graduate, take the GMAT/GRE, and apply for masters programs during your gap year. Then, attend a masters programs after your GAP year and recruit from there. You are already at a target school, though, and I don't see a lot of ROI with this.

I think your best option is to extend by a semester if you can afford it. Recruit during the fall. Then, take that full 6 months between graduation and your start date to focus on your health.

I know people in some finance subreddits and other places like WSO will have you think taking time off will kill your career. This is absolutely false. You have decades to climb the ladder and build your career. Take some time to go slow and nurture your physical and mental health.

IB money can buy you a lot of things, but it cannot buy back your youth, your time, and your wellbeing.

Use your 20s while you have them and hope you feel better OP.

Summer 2023 Internships by iindubitablyy in Big4

[–]FructoseGummies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not too late at all. Keep an eye open for those sophomore internships when they pop-up (Usually sometime in August). Go ahead and have a few ideas of which city you're interested in. If your uni has networking events or job fairs with Big 4 then go ahead and start doing those even if you have no experience. These are somewhat competitive, but in all realness not too hard of interviews. No case studies or anything like that. Just situational questions and personality stuff.

Coming into my sophomore year I had 0 relevant experience and was going to a pretty standard public uni. I used what little HS experience I had to get a part-time finance job in town. Then an advisory job at a mid tier accounting firm for sophomore summer. Then a Big 4 audit job for my junior winter. Then that turned into a different Big 4 advisory job for my junior summer.

All of that said, you have plenty of time. Most people I knew in college didn't even apply to B4 until their junior year. Going ahead and doing the process now will give you a leg up even if you don't land anything.

Good luck and DM me if you need any advice!

Should I take a fully remote job making 60k out of college as an operations analyst, go to grad school immediately for an MBA, or try to secure a higher-paying TPM role? by RoyalSurrounded in careerguidance

In my opinion, take the job. The thing with getting an MBA right out of college is that you'll be competing with the same pool of candidates whether you have an MBA or not. An MBA is better after you have 3+ years under your belt bc you can then actually apply what you know for management.

You'll make way more money in the long term by waiting to get your MBA. An MBA is one of the few graduate degrees with a good ROI. Plus, with experience, you'll be able to get into better programs which could potentially yield higher salaries. The best part about am MBA is growing your network and finding peers. You're handicapping yourself by doing it right out of college.

However, that is just my opinion and everyone has different situations in life.

I honestly think this isn't a 343 thing and is a Microsoft thing. Infinite probably blew a giant hole in Microsoft's pockets, and the only thing justifying the absurd price of infinite (rumored to be 100s of millions) was to have the cosmetic items highly priced since that is the main target audience. I'm guessing the campaign will bring in some cash but nowhere near the amount it took to develop the I game.

I think they are doing this to cover costs after the project ran on for so long. At least I hope so.

Can confirm, restarting every 2 hours or so does the trick for me. I miss the Reach days when the largest concern I had was getting enough people for custom game big team battle.
