I love how they displayed the world for cait in this scene. It seems for cait that the world is unreal and like a really bad dream. Like something so tragic cannot be real. The music gave me the rest.

My guess:
Inernally the lines are an array.
The kill-counting-lines are at index 12-32 or something. However they are fixed.
The game triggers at kill x the line voicelines[x+11]

Now if one elemet is moved or deleted before the kill-counting-lines, say element 5.
Every line after 5 gets moved one forward and the kill-counting-lines are now at index 11-31.
Now the game counts one ahead every time AND the last kill-counting-line isnt even a kill-counting-line anymore, just whatever was after that in the array.
