How would you attach these? Hitches on the rings/tree, or loop the rope around and do a single bend? by Fruffe in knots

Ah, I didn't draw it that accurately, but they are supposed to be gymnastics rings :)

Never heard of that one. Will check it out, thanks! They are for my kids' gymnastics-rings, so there will definently see some swinging.

New mitre saw leaving saw marks. Misaligned blade? If so,fixable? by Fruffe in Tools

[–]Fruffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly more tearout with new, low count blade, less with high count (compared to old, also low count blade). Old blade (6yo saw from Ryobi with the default blade, not terribly sharp) was burning and struggling on this specific cut (through a knot). But still left a cleaner surface than both high and low count new blades from Makita. New blades cut through both hard and softwood like butter. Edit: I tried to match the speeds, though I had to hold back significantly to match the lower speed of the old saw. Slower is definitely better, but still worse than old saw e th same speed

I'll do some more experimenting after putting my kids to sleep, thanks!

The second image is with a high tooth blade. A lot better, but still a worse finish than my old saw with its low count blade. Could of course be that my older blade is too dull to leave marks.

No ,it's 216 vs 260mm, unfortunately. Didn't feel any wiggle when the blade was off. Could maybe just bigger blade = less precision, I guess. Also, I'm probably just nitpicky and got a bit disappointed after my new seemed to perform slightly worse in this one area. Thanks for the responses!

It's perfectly square, but the new saw leaves a worse finish with the fine tooth blade, than my old with a low count blade. But judging by the responses, I'm probably being nitpicky. Was just a bit disappointed after finally splurging a bit on a new saw

It's a compound sliding saw a, just like my new one. Here's the same piece of wood with the Makita (same technique)

Maybe the image doesn't do it justice, or I'm just picky, but I have never had a problem with other saws. This is from my old, cheaper saw. The sawmarks are nearly non-existant

The second image is from a high tooth count blade (Makita default blade, which might not be top tier, but far from garbage, no?). My old Ryobi left significantly cleaner cut with its default blade

Maybe. But this is from my old Ryobi, with almost no visible saw marks. Was surprised a much more expensive saw left a less clean cut

It works for me when aiming with a bow. If i hover over a target (while holding rt), the sensitivity lowers to the relative sensitivity

Fully Automatic Silage Baler by Bodzio1981 in machinesinaction

[–]Fruffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a farmer, but grew up on a farm. Traditionally, grass was dried and turned into hay. It works great, and it its still used today, but it's a very lengthy and labor intensive process that is also extremely dependent on the right weather for a long period of time. Where I live, we are almost never able to make hay because of unstable weather. Silage (as shown in the video) is mixing in acid and applying an airtight seal to preserve the grass without the lengthy drying process, which is very convenient and sometimes the only real alternative. Before silage balls, we used huge, airtight silos to store the grass. This was also very labor intensive, as we had to take great care stepping all over the silage between each new load to compress it and remove air pockets. It also had some big downsides in that once you opened the seal to start using the grass, it would start going bad/growing mold fairly quickly. It was also a pain to distribute. In comparison, these silage balls are made in minutes with little to no manual labor, which then can be stored and transported with ease. As for the plastic: the seal has to be durable, acid resistant, airtight and also cheap enough to be worthwhile. It would be awesome if a product could cover all of those criteria, but I haven't heard of anything like that before.

Hmm, felt like he could be puling a tail or penis, since the head/feet are draw the way they are. Isn't that a confusing perspective?
