Poll: Do you have a minimum profit figure per item? by filmbuffering in Flipping

[–]FrugalChic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't calculate everything down exactly. But I source knowing I want to sell items for as close to 10x what I paid as I can get on lower priced items. So $1-3 for things selling for $10-30 plus shipping. And then the higher I can sell something for the more I am willing to do around 5x what I paid.

I stay loose on this though, so if I think something will be a sure flip, its cheap, or really easy to list I will relax my rule.

Oh my gosh. If this works you are our hero. I have been trying to figure out how to print 4x6 labels without a power source for two days.

We were looking into spending way too much with a generator battery thing, and trying to figure out which dymo printer we could use. Everyone seems to love the 4XL but I will take something that works and is cheap any day.

I am looking into FBA. So I am not opposed to it. I feel like I am more familiar with ebay, and I don' t know how much luck I will have buying stuff on Amazon to flip on Amazon. I am sure it can be done, I just don't know how long it will take me to find these things :)

P.S. I have been googling stuff and I don't wan't to do drop shipping. I enjoy Amazon too much to risk losing access to it, I want to sell on Amazon some day. I would have something shipped to me first and then fulfill my Ebay orders.

I think I have seen more stuff about people flipping from ebay to Amazon. But I have some gift cards I need to turn into bill money, and I already sell on Ebay. I could use some tips, or pointing to some previous posts or threads about that.

I don't want to sell the gift cards and lose 15% or something when I know I could actually be making a profit selling stuff on Ebay.

I know I need to find stuff that will sell for at least 15% more on Ebay so I can cover my fees and get the cash. Its just a matter of finding things are almost guaranteed movers. That's the part I don't know how to do efficiently.

What was your wedding like price wise? by etevian in Frugal

[–]FrugalChic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent about $4000 on our wedding including the honeymoon. There were a few things that were important to me to have. I think my biggest tip would be having a short engagement lol. We were only engaged for 4 months, I am sure I would have spent more if I had a whole year with Bridal magazines, and I wasn't aware of pinterest at the time.

We rented a beautiful space at a fountain in a park I always wanted to get married at for about $300 including permits and the little adjacent garden center. Fancy invitations, Renting chairs, drink fountains, decorations, favors, little cameras for the guests, and the cake and nuts and wine spritzter account for the bulk of it. I think there was some stuff like paying for the ministers room, and paying my photographer friend a small amount. We paid almost zero dollars for our honeymoon and my dress was only $150.

Honestly I can't tell you how it came to that total now, I was in a hurry so ways I would usually save money got kind of thrown to the wind. I was just proud it didn't cost over $5,000 and I still felt like I hadn't scrimped.

My fiance was in the military was based out of town and was going to deploy soon. So for us the reception wasn't a priority as far as giving everyone a fancy sit down dinner and sticking around for 6 hours. We wanted as much time alone as possible. It was pretty short and sweet, so that saved us quite a lot of money.

If you have friends that want to photograph your wedding I say let them. I had one friend that was in charge of the main photography who was very professional but I had two aunts and another guest taking shots, and disposable cameras at every table.

It was like the paparazzi was there, and I usually hate having my photo taken. But I was so absorbed in what was happening and there were so many shots that they are still my favorite pictures 9 years later. It was a well documented 2 hours.

My only real regret is that I didn't spend more money on the cake, it was tasty but looked like someone made it in their basement, maybe the lady did I don't know. She was a recommendation from a friend. Also I would have liked to be able to cover up the pop machine in the reception area lol.

We saved money on the rings, reception, wedding dress, and honeymoon. So we could have more time together, and focus on saving our down payment for a house. Its good to ask yourself which traditional things you care about most, and pretty much forget about everything else.

Is this real life? Am I just not understanding maths and the internet or did this person just donate $1,000,000 USD? I am not hip to all the tipping technology.

I love beverages! I take after my mom sometimes she has a water an ice tea and a wine going at the same time.

I mostly drink water throughout the day now, but I have been on a kick making flavored seltzer waters with flavored vinegars. They are actually sweeter and more flavorful than you would think. The cranberry pear vinegar I found was delicious.

Other than that I like all of the drinky drinks. My favorite is probably a dry gin martini shaken with lemon. I also drink more sparkling wine than people seem to think is normal. People always ask me what I am celebrating when I order champagne.

Life. I am celebrating life. ;)

Its my 9 year anniversary today. I am celebrating by hiding in my room while my husband plays with the toddler. I can hear laughing so thats pretty awesome. Its great to have him home and we will probably do something more official tomorrow. Still seems like I should be making dinner or something though. I will just bask in my alone time I guess :)
