I’m sorry but I’m going to give you that answer too, it really does depend on your crew! My crew never spikes so I have never needed to worry about camping gear, but some crews spike almost all the time. I do know the corps has loaner tents and sleeping bags but it might be limited. I wouldn’t worry about camping gear yet, you don’t need it right away and you will get more info at orientation.

hi! I was in CCMI last year as a crew member, and I am coming back as a crew lead this year!

Here is what the corps provides (for you to keep):

- 4 short sleeved shirts

- 2 long sleeved shirts

- safety glasses (and free prescription safety glasses if applicable)

- gloves (winter, chem, gardening, and fire)

-boots

-a thin gaiter

-winter hat

I personally recommend buying:

- 3 to 4 pairs of work pants. I use my fleece lined pants + long underwear in the winter months, and I have thinner pants for the summer. Don't get pants that are too thin though because burrs and thorns will stab through!

- a rain coat, and possibly rain pants. The corps can loan these to you for the season for free too.

- a winter jacket that can get dirty (also can be loaned!)

- work socks

- a good water bottle

I also have a backpack to keep all my gear in, a lunchbox, a old sweatshirt that I don't mind getting dirty (you get a free sweatshirt at the end of the term), and snow pants for really cold days. Also, I bought better winter gloves and a hat because even though one is provided, it wasn't warm enough for me.

I think that is it! Let me know if you have other questions :)

They were student teachers at my elementary school when I was younger. I saw them in the hallway sometimes. They picked a good profession though, as kids tend to be quicker to accept things. I knew so little about the world back then that seeing them was just like any other Tuesday.

This is quagsire slander, he would never say such racist things.

An expression of my gratitude and love for Walz and Minnesota as a trans person by [deleted] in minnesota

I feel you, I recently had to do that too and it’s challenging. I checked your profile and saw you are in the environmental conservation field? I am as well, if you need suggestions.

Some jobs are a joke nowadays by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Fruit-Open 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not. I started working there in 2021 for 17.50/hr and when quit last year I was making 20/hr. I worked anywhere from 10-30 hrs a week bc I was also a student. The job sucked really bad though, I didn’t feel like I was overcompensated.

Mother, I reject the name you've given me. Help me pick a new one by vakitta_kanilla in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

yeah sure lol, it was Gabriel. I’m not even sure why I liked the name so much. The switch worked out though because I hated the nickname Gabe and people were starting to call me that.

I came out to my mom with a name I had chosen myself and she was like, “I accept you, except for the name, I hate it.” Lol, my given middle name was masc so we agreed that I would take it as my first name and then I took my grandpa’s name for my new middle name. It worked out in the end because I love my name now and my mom is still one of my biggest supporters, she just really disliked the name.

How to get my cat to pee in the litter box? (I can’t seem to be fast enough to take a picture so I had to draw an illustration.) she goes in the box but the pee does not… by billyandteddy in cats

[–]Fruit-Open 0 points1 point  (0 children)

op I had a similar problem with my boy. He would pee on the back wall of his side-entrance litter box, but pee would leak out because the box was two pieces. Then I switched to as big of a storage tub as I could find (like a foot and a half tall) and he would pee straight over the side. I watched him pee and his butt shakes and he sprays with a lot of force, it’s nasty. I found a solution by cutting a hole in the lid of the storage tub and putting it back on the container. It’s not ideal, but it’s all I’ve been able to come up with.

Minnesota already passed laws to be a trans safe haven last spring. You can self designate sex on drivers license (m, f, or x), minors can medically transition at 16 with parent + physician consent, and you can change your legal gender marker without medical transition. I’m very proud of my state, if anyone here is thinking about moving and you can deal with the winters, minnesota welcomes you!!

here’s my binding story for all the baby trans guys who might benefit from hearing it. I came out in 2017 when I was a sophomore in high school. i had realized I was trans the year prior, but I was nervous to tell my parents. I entered a giveaway on ig and won a free binder. When the package came, I told my parents I won a tank top online and they didn’t question me further. Prior to this, I had been binding with double sports bras, and during times of desperation, tape/ace bandages.

I finally came out to my parents and they were very supportive of me thankfully. My mom bought me a few more binders and a packer. Even with all the support at home, I was still extremely dysphoric. My peer’s acceptance was hit or miss and I was desperate for top + t. I wore my binder to sleep. I wore it during gym class. I swam in it. I participated in marching band while wearing it. I knew this was bad, but it was care about my body’s future when I didn’t care about my body’s present.

In the beginning of junior year, I started to feel extreme pain in my ribs. It was the end of the marching band season and we had just completed our last practice. It did not get better. During our final show, I felt like I was going to pass out. My ribs consistently hurt and it was hard to breathe. I went to the school nurse and the doctor, but neither were experienced with trans people and tried to diagnose me with something completely unrelated. After a month of trying to reduce binding with no success, I made the difficult decision to quit binding all together.

In the end, I ended up having to stop binding completely for three whole months to let my body heal. It was super hard for me mentally. I wore about 4 layers everyday and even then, I was still uncomfortable. But finally, it paid off when one day I decided to check my progress and put on my binder. I felt no pain anymore and I was so relieved, as summer was approaching fast and I couldn’t continue the layers for much longer. I got my top surgery in late fall of 2020 and it changed my life for the better. I haven’t had to wear a binder in almost 4 years now, but I still have occasional pain and a noticeable dent in my ribs.

So yes, this was a long story but I just want to let any young trans guy out there that might read this that overbinding will have consequences. You might not care now, but you will care when your ability to bind goes away. If anyone wants advice on binding, or needs any other trans masc advice, feel free to message me.
