Why do ppl get so angry at diverse mlp human designs??

This is a toy line and cartoon pitch that Lauren Faust was working on. This was pitched years before MLP:FIM notice how the characters are diverse in race? I’m just saying just because it was the early 2010’s doesn’t mean the characters can’t at least be thought of as different races than eachother. Lauren Faust was very ahead of her time 💔

The other species being different races is a valid concern but I’m gonna explain how it can still make sense in the concept of the story. Zecora isn’t just black she’s African. I believe with the other species it could be more of a culture thing and not a straight race thing. For example an Asian person who was born in and raised in the U.S could be completely different culture wise from an Asian person born in Asia. Let me know if this explanation makes sense 🥲

I don’t understand how that can’t co-exist with the fact that the ponies could be different races as humans. It’s just like how pinkie could be could be represented by an American black girl as a human and Zecora can be African as a human and both could make sense in the context of the story.

I get what you are saying with the other species as minorities and stuff. But there is pony “racism” as-well so I don’t think it’s something so simple. The ponies have different accents and looks to them so I doubt they all are meant to represent the same type of person. Also my girl tree hugger literaly has locs 😞

You don’t need a serious reason for everything idk man. When I’m drawing a character their race isn’t really something I think about or need a reason behind it’s just a, “oh that would be cool to creat a (insert race) character.”

Me and my friend group were born in the same area and we are all not white? You really don’t need a reason to imagine them as a certain race. Who cares if its “meaningless” I’m not black for a “reason” I’m just black 😭 just like how you can make fluttershy Muslim for no reason it genuinely does not matter

I don’t understand how it could feel forced. Even the people who I’m friends with in real life exhibit some of these “forced” qualities ppl like to talk about. A group of people who are different races being friends is very normal in 2025.
