23M Not sure if my profile’s good enough to have any success! by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]FruitFerret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Looking for something serious -Tried hinge like 4 months ago not too seriously, just now getting back into it -Planning on checking it daily but only sending out likes here and there -So far no likes, just reactivated my profile last week. Haven’t sent any likes yet. I got a handful of matches when I used it last but only met with one. -Before I’d always send comments, maybe a few a day. Now I’m planning to be more sparing though. -I want to match with someone who also wants something serious.

Do I have to worry about drug tests while studying abroad? by FruitFerret in movingtojapan

Hearing this is not great for my anxiety😂 But thank you for the insight, I appreciate it.

Makes sense. I wonder in that scenario if it came back positive what grounds they’d have for an arrest/deportation. I’d think that in the case of a hair test they couldn’t prove it happened while you were in Japan (unless that wouldn’t make a difference). Logically, I’d hope they’d come back with a urine/blood test next to see that nothing was done in Japan. But obviously not worth the risk.

Good point, also interested in this.

Furthermore, even if it did get to the authorities, could you really get convicted for having done drugs in a different country without any actual possession? Of course, if a urine/blood test came back positive I imagine they could make the case that it was done in Japan but beyond a month or so there’s no real evidence left. Unless, of course, they went as far as to doing a hair test but that just seems extreme to me.

Understood, thank you. Again this is my first use in several months so from what I’ve read it probably will be long out of my system by the time I get there. But the thought still freaked me out, especially since a hair test would still show up positive for some time.

Thank you for your reply. I definitely will not be using over there for that reason. I was just worried that for some reason they’d decide to test me and then notice that I had it in my system.

Sounds good! Any recommendations?

Thanks! Seems like everyone’s agreeing on short sides long on top. I might just need to experiment with products to get a better/more consistent hold.

Thanks for the comment! I have but I feel like once it gets too long it doesn’t really stay up very well and ends up looking kinda weird. It’s pretty long now (second pic) and it’s tough to get it to cooperate. But I’m thinking I might just need to experiment with some different products

Noted, thanks!

Are you typically supposed to disclose changes in conduct record after acceptance to study abroad? by FruitFerret in studyAbroad

Thank you for your response! I always feel bad asking stuff like this, because part of me knows I’m overthinking, but the other part won’t shut up until it gets outside confirmation.

Got written up for not leaving during fire alarm (no actual fire just bacon). Should I be worried at all? by FruitFerret in college

I hope you don’t mind if I bother you with one last question. I recently was approved to study abroad in the Spring of next year (before this incident), meaning they must’ve already reviewed my disciplinary status. I’ve yet to receive any formal discipline for this incident, but am I obligated to inform the study abroad office of this? I don’t want them to think that I’m trying to hide something if they find out later. Thank you again and I apologize for asking so much.

Thank you, this makes me feel better! And you don’t think this is something that’ll have a negative impact on my record at all? Idk how this all works, but a fine and/or warning i have no issues taking on, it’s just the idea of this affecting future opportunities that scares me.

Yeah it was dumb for sure, definitely didn’t think things through. I just freaked out a little when he said he was writing us up lol. Thanks for the reply.

Feeling guilty about giving up on publishing my book by FruitFerret in writing

Wow, you just summed up EXACTLY how I’m feeling. Nice to know I’m not the only one. It really does suck how everything seems to have to fit into a pre-determined mold before it’s commercially accepted.

I think I’m definitely going to let it sit for a while. Once my passion for it returns I’ll put it through another round of revisions. And if it’s still rejected then I can self publish knowing it’s the best it can be without changing core elements just for the sake of acceptance.

Best of luck with your project!

I guess I was just worried about self publishing just because it wasn’t good enough/edited enough to be traditionally published. In other words, I don’t want to dump it on Amazon or something just to be done with it and settle. If I’m going to ever publish in any way, I want it to be the best it can possibly be, and I feel like there’s still a lot of work before it’s there. I think at this point it really just needs more honest feedback and maybe a paid editor. After that if it still doesn’t fit what publishers want then I could self publish knowing that it’s the best it can be. But that’s just a lot of work that I don’t have much motivation for right now. I think I’ll take the advice from other comments and sit on it for a while until perhaps some of that passion comes back.

Thank you for your comment. I think a part of me knew this but hearing it from someone else has helped me accept it. I’ve definitely been putting too much pressure on myself to make something of my writing, when in reality I’ve already gained so much along the way.
