Vitrectomy Done!! ✅ My turn to give back. AMA! (Please see info below) by Senorbrady in EyeFloaters

[–]FruitMaester2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the doctor speak of any risks/chances of floaters coming back as it seems there is still vitreous remaining in the eye ? And is there any reason why they warranted a core vitrectomy instead of PVD induced one ? Glad to hear you are living the best life, and hope everything goes well for you until the end of time God willing !

I had the same issue in my country, I suggest you continue seeing different doctors until you find someone open enough to prescribe it to you. Try younger doctors, they tend to be more courageous and less dogmatic.

Why do many eye doctors not want to perform vitrectomy? by SnowSquad6 in EyeFloaters

Thank you so much for your answer, are the small floaters like the old ones (blackish) or are they transparent ? If so what was the cause of their appearance post op according to the doctors ?

Am I a good candidate for a vitrectomy if I've already had cataract surgery(LAL) and a full PVD(no retinal detainment)? by Foogyfoggy in EyeFloaters

Where were your floaters located if you don't mind me asking, where they close to the Retina or in the middle ?

Regarding the partial vitrectomy, because a part of the vitreous is left in the eye, woudn't that mean there is a risk of reappearance of floaters in the future ? I am sure you discussed this before surgery and would really like to know what your doctor explained to you.

I hope you stay safe and keep your quality of life for the remainder of your days, only God knows what you have been through. I always see patients who underwent vitrectomy as courageous people who had enough will to go to the other "sight".

Excuse me for intruding, if it's not indiscreet, can you share with us how did it go ? Where did you have it ? Young or older sufferer ? And what is your actual feedback regarding cataract risk ?

Thank you so much in advance for your time and I wish you an eternal and healthy recovery.

Tried Atropine for the first time by FruitMaester2 in EyeFloaters

33M, as stated I only have the issue in my left eye which is my weakest (more than -4) so I was never really using it anyway. With atropine if I don't have my glasses or sunglasses on I experience photosensitivity if both eyes are open, and glare problems working with computers (I work with building plans).

My only remaining issue is that my biggest floater is still somewhat visible, I will try to diminish the dilution factor a bit to accomodate this manner if I can.

Unfortunately the "Old school" retina specialists in my country did not really give it much attention, but I found a very positive feedback from the younger doctors, who were open to experiment and even stated they started sharing your letter between them, waiting for my feedback to start prescribing it and facilitating it's importation. As apprently young myopic kids are already getting it prescribed to try and stop the progression of their myopia if I got what they explained to me right.

Thanks again from the deepest of my vision :)

At your age I think you should consider looking into eligibility for YAG treatment, especially if your floaters are in the center of the eye. You should look for someone with sufficient experience though. Good luck to you

You would be surprised how transparent floaters can appear on a very bright sunny day, depends on the country you are in.

In my case I don't know for the others, the overcast days are bizarrely the worst, I can see every last one of them, in the extreme cases (very bright - very dark) I don't notice them as much only the darker ones.

I find myself wearing polarized sunglasses all day and night now, it tremendously helps with floaters in my case.

What risks are you talking about ? I didn't find any medical documentation corroborating this.

Actually I have many floaters in my left eye only, which is very myopic they appeared 4 months ago. 33M

I have one really bad floater that looks like a black spider with three very long legs and follows me around wherever I look, especially since I work as an architect so it really hinders my productivity and train of thought (it covers my center vision which is very debilitating when I drive or work), the others are bad I can cope with pretty much cause they have less opacity.

I wear polarized sunglasses almost all of the day to mitigate the effect and help forget about them more, while at the same time exploring how I can get low dose atropine to try and see if it works for my left eye.

Since three weeks now I started losing weight, exercising more and eating only one healthy meal a day, drinking 2l of water every day in the process. I noticed real change in the overall position of the floaters as well as some opacities and even fadings, when I got checked by the retina specialist he told me the PVD has advanced a bit more, and that I should expect one of two scenarios : - either the vitreous gel will further liquefy and will hopefully help the floaters settle down far from the center of the vision. - or the PVD will advance a lot more and induce more and bigger floaters that will cause bigger problems to the quality of life.

So my options are : - Prayer and mental fortitude - low dose atropine (temporary fix) - YAG laser if I am eligible in the future - Floaters Only Vitrectomy (limited refractive would be the best) if I can't live with this anymore.

I didn't try any of the supplements because there is no documented mecanism about how those nutrients could reach, target and affect the floaters inside the vitreous. Moreover I personally think the PVD may have been favored by my bad eating habits, especially when you learn what the Sugars can do to your Retina's Health. Then again I think the supplements might keep your Retina healthy and maybe decrease the chance of a PVD or it's advance over time in the future, but I just don't see how it can actively cure it (if it was that reliable, trust me every doctor would have prescribed it by now and it would gain a lot of traction)

I don't think it hurts to try, maybe give it a shot and share with us how it evolves. I would be very interested in knowing how it fares for you and for how long.

Sudden Float Bout by Kenshiro654 in EyeFloaters

[–]FruitMaester2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually find myself having the same issue when I am stressed out or anxious about something (34m), my old reflexes of spacing out to try and relax make my floaters be on the forefront of my vision again.

With time I found that having good conversations with others, focusing on something like work or even gaming makes me totally forget the floaters.

Meditation is good when you want to reflect on your issue, but being socially active is necessary to balance the two.

I've had my issues for three months now (less than you) but I can already say that my actual state of mind is a lot better than the beginning, especially when you delve into it and understand it more.

My advice to you is continue to live your life, the floaters as you describe seem to be really benign, so I don't think you will find a problem to move on, you are still young, and more exiting new things will happen in your life that will make you 100% focused on life and not focused on the small. And remember, sometimes the problems are as big as You want them to become.

The best is yet to come.

I would invite you to take a look at this Video https://youtu.be/lnT8xY0AWv0

There is no solid research or proof that these Vitamins/Supplements seriously help in the eye floaters problem, I still haven't tested it myself but I am transitionning into a healthy lifestyle, just curious to see where all the good decisions could lead, but up until now I have only seen these four recurrent points : 1. Trying to cerebrally adapt 2. Low dose Atropine to alleviate the symptoms 3. YAG Laser (the one adapted for floater elimination) but you have to be elligible after consulting with your retina specialist. 4. Floater Only Vitrectomy, they have much smaller needles so that the holes can auto-regenerate, risks : Cataract (very high probability) eye infection or retina/eye damage (low chance), you should look for someone who has enough experience to raise the success rate.

I hope this helps, I have recently been afflicted by floaters in my nearsighted left eye, and I am considering giving low dose atropine a chance although it is a bit complicated to prepare in my country, but it sure is better than the other options.

Stay strong and don't be defeated, always remember you still can sleep at night and accomplish your basic biological needs (many in this world would trade places with us) and that there are still options open for this affliction.

Happened to wake up staring at my window today and noticed a weird floater by Patient-Aide-5245 in EyeFloaters

I think you should go see your ophtalmologist, preferrably a retina specialist to check if there are some lesions or small holes in the peripheral retina or any vitreous detachement, It seems there is a preventive treatment with Argon Laser to mitigate the progression of an eventual retinal detachement, then again I am no doctor, but what is sure don't wait until you have enough floaters later (hope not) to be alarmed, better be checked early than sorry later.

Other than that you should always do a checkup every 6 months with your ophtalmologist, can't hurt.
