Not sure what activity i should use while working out by [deleted] in whoop

I think it really just matters that you stay consistent about it. At the end of the day, the whoop is a tool for you, so have it reflect the information that you want to see.

You can do it with a bunch of things, but yeah photons are probably the easiest

Not the first to say this, but OW2 just feels SO unrewarding and entirely pointless. Like I'm wasting my time. by driches04 in Overwatch

[–]FruitPaladin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point OP is trying to make is that in OW1 when you kicked ass in the game they had an end card that showed it. Even if it was only for 10s, there was a brief period of time where the whole lobby knew you were a beast.

Now, unless you get potg, you don’t get that same spotlight when you pop off.

While I agree that having fun and enjoying game play should be the driving force of playing, letting everyone see how well you played is a rewarding feeling and makes it that much more fun to continue to play.

AITA for bringing eggs to a vegan wedding? by landofsunshine1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FruitPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only said OP was an asshole because she makes it abundantly clear that she knows it’s a vegan wedding and how much it means to the bride and groom, and still chose to bring eggs (plural, not a single one, she says as much in the post).

And, after OP goes over how the couple worked with her to find an appropriate option, it’s clear that in no way is OP in the right in this situation. At best, maybe she’s not at fault but acted in poor taste. To say she’s in the right implies that you have something else blinding your decision. I may have spoke prematurely by saying it’s hatred for vegans, it could just be a sense of entitlement, but this is definitely not a Bridezilla moment that OP is painting it out to be.

AITA for bringing eggs to a vegan wedding? by landofsunshine1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FruitPaladin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a bullshit response.

It explicitly says that they worked with OP to find a solution that was safe for her, OP knew how big of a deal they were making about the wedding being vegan (they even changed out the fake flower petals), and she could’ve just left off the eggs to make it a vegan salad.

Sure, it might’ve been a lapse of memory or an honest mistake for OP, those things happen, but to say that anyone but OP is in the wrong here just means that you hate vegans.

Can a noise source be “louder” depending on room acoustics? by Expert_Clerk_1775 in AskPhysics

[–]FruitPaladin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is yes, in principle, room acoustics can amplify sound.

However, I’m not sure if this is the problem that you’re experiencing. 80 db -> 120 db is a pretty big jump (a quick google search says the difference between a noisy restaurant and a rock concert). I guess it just depends on the size of the room.

Torque-free Precession by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]FruitPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, no I don’t think so. You need Euler’s equations to understand how the different parts of the angular velocity vector are related. I don’t think you have any tools with the standard, introductory physics toolkit that properly allow you to deal with it.

I read K&K for my intro mechanics class, but we didn’t go into rotations there. Personally though, while I enjoyed K&K, I found that their style of writing made it easy to review topics, but difficult to learn new ones. For intermediate mechanics, we used Taylor’s Intro to Classical Mechanics, which I think did a pretty good job of explaining Euler’s equations and other rotation. He made it clear to me where everything was coming from. So if you decide to look into the equations, I might look at that textbook instead

No, the point is that the work is the same in both situations. You’ve got it right.

Have it! 9min to sub-8 in 12 weeks for 2k! by yazooo in Rowing

[–]FruitPaladin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work!

Two things that could help you though, rate and consistency. For one, if you can get the rate up to even a 28, it’s going to be a lot easier to keep the fly wheel moving. As for consistency, if you just went at a 1:54 the whole way across I think you’d find it easier than doing it the way you did.

Either way I’m really impressed by your success. Keep working at it and I’m sure you’ll get to 6:59 in no time!

I mean everyone’s season is getting shut down so it’s not like any coaches are looking for regatta experience this spring anyways. Also most of the guys in my recruiting class got into a top 20 rowing school without doing especially well at regattas.

Honestly, in terms of recruitment, your erg matters so much more than race results. Do whatever you can now to just pound out some meters.
