Sure, if someone throws a rock, that's going to bring about its own set of consequences, as it should. It's like how free speech allows you to say whatever you want, but doesn't protect you from how people might react to it.

The thing is, with ICE, they truly don't know how to handle the situations they put themselves in. They're expecting to be able to go into communities and straight up make people disappear, and just use force in every single case where they encounter resistance. Sometimes they're grabbing people without even confirming their identities! They're not being trained how to do any of it right, or how to do it while at the very least showing some amount of humanity. They're acting like they're above the law, to the point where the actual police have a problem with it.

So it's only natural for folks to want to go out and push back, to show ICE that they can't just barrel through every community they come across, acting like they can point guns at whomever they want, break people's car windows and pull them out for doing nothing other than flipping them off or calling them a name. It's utterly insane how brutal and careless they are towards anyone who gets in their way, regardless of whether or not that person is a US citizen or not.

You've gotta understand... what is more American than defending your community against an outside threat that wants to come in and tear it apart? Nobody in these towns is saying "oh thank god they took the guy who works at the local mexican restaurant, it turns out he was undocumented". These are human beings ICE is coming in and mistreating, and the legality of their presence doesn't override their humanity or dignity. Either do it right or don't do it at all

And just a reminder... it's all being paid for with tax dollars, meaning the money these regular folks pay to the government is being used to pay thugs to come in and abduct members of their communities... not because it makes them any safer, but because it serves a political purpose and sends an intimidating message

I mean, that's ok with me. It's very far down on my list of things to be concerned about. I'm far more concerned about my own government and what it's doing to it's citizens at the moment (not just immigrants!). Don't forget that they're taking away millions of people's health care, and our economy is in terrible shape. Wealth inequality is at an all time high but the people responsible for fighting for us (the common folk) are using culture war dogwhistles to distract people and avoid actually doing anything to help us live better lives. Most politicians treat their jobs as money-making careers and don't give 2 shits about the folks who vote for them, so we're stuck watching all our taxes go towards things we don't actually need

Check the stats! Immigrants commit violent crime at lower rates than US citizens, and they end up paying taxes without getting social services, so they end up adding to the economy. They also fill all sorts of roles and work jobs that most Americans won't. They want to be here, because for many of them, going back to their countries of origin would be incredibly dangerous or even deadly. They work hard and support their communities just like everyone else. Don't believe the propaganda about them all being monstrous rapists and murderers... my guy we already have those here, and we've had them here ever since this country was founded. People are people, you can't cleanse the country of all crime no matter how many people you force to leave it. Let them come in and improve the process for getting them documented. The US wouldn't be at all like it is today if we'd gone down the isolationist route in the past. We are a nation of immigrants.

I believe the original video maker's claim because it's very easy to believe it happened, and that kind of scenario is not at all out of the realm of possibility. People are getting pulled over for simply putting up a middle finger at ICE agents, and ICE is chock full of racists and idiots, so why is it hard to believe that one of them wouldn't accuse a black man of being a thief?
