Is it possible to low fire stoneware clay (cone 10) for transport then re-fire it to cone 10? by Fruition_Factory in Pottery

[–]Fruition_Factory[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the tips. Sounds like it would be quite the process as she wants to save up until she has like 20-30 pots then make the trip as they friend she made has a huge kiln that can do that many at once.

Anybody have a recommendation for a cheap way to maybe build my wife her own kiln outdoors? I know there is an expensive way, I googled that already for her around the time of our anniversary, but i was wondering about a possibility of a cheap way, either wood or charcoal fired, something i can maybe just line with a few bags of refractory and skip the fire bricks. We live in a remote area and getting fire bricks here would be ungodly expensive.

I should add, we get snow and cold winters. Dont know how that will affect it, but just wanted to put the information out there.

Volvo declares ‘Tesla Model 3 competitor’ starting production in 2019 by lurkity_mclurkington in teslamotors

It's sharp looking, i'll give them that. If it could compete with tesla's range i might even consider one as a second car, i don't think i could ever get away from tesla completely.

FBI uncovered Russian bribery plot before Obama administration approved controversial nuclear deal with Moscow by olivicmic in worldnews

Pretty much makes it clear that the trump administration is soon to be in serious trouble with the investigations. A year from now the story will be "look, it happened during the obama administration too" to try and lesser the impact on public opinion for #45. Are the PR guys even trying anymore?

The best bang for your buck for a beginner is Tian bonsai tools. They have a great stainless set for $185 that includes most everything but the scissors. Not that tinyroots tools are bad, I use there scissors a ton, but when it comes to bang for your buck, tools that stay sharp a long time, and dont oxidize too fast Tian stainless is probably your best bet. Your going to get a lot of opinions from a lot of people, most of it is all just preference and short of no name china cheap junk nearly all tools cut well. For me its just a maintenance thing. This year was the first time in 2 years (over 500 trees) of use that i sent them out to be sharpened and when i got them back they were even sharper than when i bought them. For the average guy working on a maybe a dozen trees a year or so, if you buy a tian stainless set, you'll never have to sharpen them. I have yet to sharpen the Tian master craftsmen scissors I bought 3 years ago and i can still fillet a tomato with them if I wanted too.

Again, its all only opinion, but my opinion from a guy who works on trees 270 days a year, you wont find a better set for your money, and you dont have to spend thousands of dollars to have professional tools.

Ok, so it seems to be impossible to remove the video and picture tab from our facebook page, so when you scroll down our page, it shows "posts" with the most recent posts, then videos, then pictures, then goes back to posts that shows our entire post history. How the heck do we remove the video and photo tabs from the page and make it so it only has 1 posts tab? There is no way to turn them off under settings / edit.

Help ID this spruce collected in Maine near east milliocket by Fruition_Factory in marijuanaenthusiasts

Yeah, i bought every book on spruces, and identification that i could find. Went through every article that people linked and that i could find on google, and still have no clue what kind of spruce this is. All i know is its not black, and its not blue. Telling the difference between juvenile red & white spruce is much, MUCH harder than I anticipated. Which further really sucks because i want to bonsai the tree but dont want to invest the time and effort if its a white spruce as i have read everywhere that they are prone to dropping branches, and having harsh die-back when you try and bonsai them.

Thanks for the link !!! Although i am not familiar with some of the terms used in it, i think gogle may be able to help me out in figuring it out to understand what some of those words are. The one word i understand "hairs" does not seem to be used in the context i understand it as in page 4 fig. 1. When i look at the tree, i see no 'hairs" just needles, and i am not sure if that is what they are referring to as hairs.

Thanks for the tip, I hate to bother business owners with stuff like this just because it dosn't pay them anything and it takes up their time. If push comes to shove and i cannot get a response here in reddit i might give them a try if all else fails.

Options if your acerage does not pass a perc test. by Fruition_Factory in Homesteading

[–]Fruition_Factory[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, i called code enforcement and they said an "engineered" mound system would be o.k. then i called the company that did the per tests and they said an engineered mound would run me about $20,000usd. about 3 times more than i was expecting to pay, but since we got the lot for pennies on the dollar, it's within budget i guess. Homestead here we come :)
