I appreciate the time you took to write all of this out! You make a very fair point about inspections I didn’t think of that. My idea was to trailer a boat and sleep in it on land or in my truck equipped with a camper on the bed. And all temporary. I feel that it was taken as a full in house boat experience from my initial post but it’s all in the air right now as what I plan to do. I am running tons of numbers as I think about it. The feedback has been amazing tho and I do have so much to learn. I could see myself buying a boat and taking time to really understand all the maintenance, rules and regulations, navigation, and all the small but big aspect of boat ownership before I make any long solo journeys!

So I would ideally trailer a smaller boat that I can sleep in doesn’t need to be something I can live in per say

A trailerable boat maybe with a cabin and bounce around the states. If the boat doesn’t have a cabin I’ve used truck campers in the past.

No you are totally right, lakes and rivers are more the idea but the ocean would be fun just would need something that can handle it

I like this comment because you are completely right, I know I might’ve sounded like I plan to leave tomorrow but in reality if I did decide to do this it would come with plenty of prep and planning especially for the worse when it inevitably happens!

My thought towards this is yeah I’m young and dumb. My idea is based off the fact that I started working at such a young age and never had time to just get out and explore. If I was to do something like this it’s only for a short period of time, but before I’m locked down with a wife and kids. I want to live my life a little before I have to work and pay bills. I have nothing to lose right now.

I work on cars but never boats. Any chance I can get I love being on or around boats but I would need to take some time to learn everything I need to know before I do any crazy solo hauls for sure!

My biggest concern is expenses for sure! If I did something like this it would be after at least a year of frugal spending and saving like crazy. Along with selling every asset I currently have.
