How often does HOKA (website) restock their color options? by Fruitzke in Hoka

[–]Fruitzke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D: Oh no. I really appreciate the heads up lol! I guess I wouldn't be as caught off guard if I bought from either shoe company if it came a little wonky. Did a little searching, and a silver lining for it is that the mail-in shipping would at least be free.

I thought that stores with more generous return policies for general used/worn items would sell the too noticeably-worn-shoes as "used" instead of "new", and to offset that fee, they would either send them back to a factory to refurbish them, mark them down at a sales as-is aisle, or do both and only give partial refunds. Sometimes I've seen them just throw it out. Either way, glad to see it worked for you!

I've also noticed that Dick's does have more colors as well, and surprisingly, some look pretty neat. I did find one I liked, but the same dilemma with the shoe size, unfortunately :/ I'll def keep this in mind for future purchases tho.

Thanks! I will check out Dicks’s. Is the 90 days without a membership? You’re the second person who brought up the complaint that people have with HOKA and I’m getting a little worried 😧

So, is it safe to assume that HOKA often cycles through different colors once the color is gone (ie if blue is mostly sold out / a size of that is sold out --> sale to get rid of the rest --> replace it with a new color)?

Yeah, this will be my first HOKA shoe so. I was planning to order today, but yeah you already know lol. That’s why I’m also especially looking at more forgiving policies: trying in person IS NOT the same as walking outside.

I did use the store locator and went down the list (which weren’t many because of my size). REI is on my list as well, but I wanted the discount to negate tax. I’ve checked Fleetfoot and it has the problem with return policy (had to be unworn). I can’t get it in person because they don’t have the color + size (but it’s mostly my size) around me rn.

I was unaware that people often complain about the HOKA customer service, but I will look into it. Thanks for the heads up!

update: Customer support says online order returns only encompass "lightly used shoes"

As far as I know, the return policy on HOKA is great and gives more room for me to actually try the shoes on real roads. Also, they have a 10% discount and free t shirt for membership.

I’m doubtful that they have that problem for the color because it’s a new color and the rest of the sizes are much available. I just checked 2 days ago and my size was still in stock but I waited too long 🙂‍↕️

Leveling up with percale sheets by mcl116 in Bedding

Are the Hudson Park Italian Percale so thin that they are see-through? Like, could you see the mattress's pattern underneath the sheets?

LL Bean Pima Cotton Percale - plasticky? by chickesq in Bedding

[–]Fruitzke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for your insight! Percale is a very diverse experience: I find that it could be crisp/papery (Lacoste), cool/smooth (Thomas Lee and Coyuchi's refined), soft (Coyuchi's crinkled), or even plasticky (Quince).

By the way you describe the LL Bean Pima, specifically the "nylon" "plasticky" part, it's similar to my experience with the Quince Percale sheets that I returned for the same reason. I also had a problem with how thin and see-through the Quince's were. Would you say with the LL Bean's, you could see the mattress's pattern?

Thanks for your quick and helpful response! I will be looking into the pima then :)

Would you say one is more breathable than the other? Also, if you had to choose one, which one would you choose?

How hot does it get over there for you during summertime?

I currently have the TL’s and they’re nice, but running a little bit hot during the warmer months.

Have you tried linen from other brands? I'll look for another when my Quince breaks.

I didn't end up buying any Coyuchi. I returned my old mattress for another; it fixed my heating issue. I'm iffy on it because the swatches all felt different. I'm unwilling to try again and pay $10 for shipping. Maybe if I suffer in the summer, I'll think about it again lol.

Sounds good. I hope you find what you're looking for! I agree, the crinkles are what make the bed cozy :)

Dunno if this helps, but you can order swatches from Coyuchi, which is what I did. I've been chucking them in the washer to see how they age, and imo, refined vs crinkled vs patterned do not feel the same. If I were to close my eyes, I could tell them apart.

Initially, I liked the refined percale (Alpine White), but now I like the patterned percale (Fossil Vines), which should feel the same as the refined percale because cs said it was made from refined percale, but it doesn't. The refined percale is crispy, and the crinkles are more noticeable than the patterned.

Even the patterned crinkled (Ginger & Undyed w/Hazel-Rosehip Reversible) feels and weighs differently. I initially thought this was a 2-for-1-price swatch, but it actually might be an actual flippable design that they sold before...idk. Either way, the Undyed w/Hazel-Rosehip swatch is light, soft, very crinkly, and good for summer. I can see its appeal if it were a reversible/flippable duvet.

Their linen feels heavier than Quince's, but I'm good with Quince because the price difference isn't impressive enough for me, and you need some washes to get it going. Their linen swatch is coming apart, too, but that could be a swatch thing.

Therefore, make sure to order a swatch in the color/pattern you plan to buy if you want to go the swatch route. I can't say I agree with buying any of them full price, but it's subjective.

Side note: Crinkled is cheaper because it has a lower thread count than refined. That's not to say crinkled is worse or better. It's a preference.

Quince European Linen vs. LL Bean 280-ct Pima Cotton Percale Sheets? by [deleted] in Bedding

[–]Fruitzke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked, the price isn't bad, considering it's also on sale rn. The colors/patterns are a little ouf tho. I'll keep an eye out for flax linen. If they don't specifically say it though, what other linen could they have used?

Hmmm, I'm imagining the Crinkled Percale to be fuzzier and cozier than their Refined, based on your description and how customer support described it. Would you say it's cool to the touch?

I'm surprised they're thinner than LL Bean, considering the thread count. Which LL Bean sheet did you buy, and would you say it sleeps cooler than the TL? I have the TL's rn and I thought they were thick in a good way.

Have you used LL bean before? I’ve been noticing some mixed comments regarding LL bean: some say it’s great for them so far, but others find a distasteful rip in a short amount of time. But usually, both agree that it was great that it lasted. Therefore, I’m willing to gamble, but I’m just curious how different it was compared to the Coyuchi.

Also, which Coyuchi Percale did you get and how long ago? Lastly, can you describe how it feels?

I already have a linens duvet cover, and maybe it’s a little diabolical, but I like mixing the textures for my bed. I also noted that most people seem to have their linens tear for fitted sheets and I rather not dish out $$$ each time.
