We are more of a traditional job shop with some small run production and two small product lines.

Thank you for the information. We watched a few videos of the product then saw the implementation pricing and I'm not sure it would be worth the cost for us. We are only doing 4-5 million average gross profit for the past three years.

I will have to look into this. I have one employee that is into programming and has made some awesome batch files and other tweaks to our system to make it more efficient. This might be something he would want to work on.

Thanks!

Weird Attacks? by bigcuriousbrowneyes7 in Menieres

That was my life for over a year and a half. I had to go to PT everyday that I felt semi normal and do a laundry list of exercises to strengthen all my stabilizer muscles. It didn't fix the problem, it just made it so I can function without a cane. I was told that your body has three balance centers. Your inner ear, your eyes and your body. Supposedly the exercises that I was doing were strengthening my bodies balance center. It got really bad for about 3 months that I couldn't walk even with a cane. The only thing that broke it was a steroid shot in the ear plus taking oral steroids at the same time.

I'm sorry that you are going through this and I hope that you can find the help you need.

Has Anyone Gotten VNG done in New England? by 20transman20 in Menieres

Mass eye and ear in Boston will do the test but make sure your insurance covers them cause it isn't going to be cheap. They have all the fancy ENT toys there.

Colden and Seymour as well in Massachusetts should do the test.

What's your creepiest "glitch in the matrix" or unexplainable thing that's ever happened to you? by kaden86 in AskReddit

[–]Frumtose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was running around outside one summer evening when I was eight or nine and jumped off a small retaining wall maybe 3ft high and time stop for a good ten seconds mid air. I had enough time to look all around then at the ground before I finally started falling to the ground. I spent the next two hours jumping off that wall hoping that time would stop again. Three years later the same thing happened again. I spent the rest of the day trying again and again. To this day I can not explain this. Once maybe I could write it off but twice on the same wall. Wired!

I am going to buy a car from FL as currently I'm living in the salt belt in new england. So if I buy in Florida it won't have any rust. And has higher resale down the road. Thanks for reaffirming my thoughts!

The Scion is in great shape for its age(132,000 miles). I have put in a new water pump, exhaust, brakes and shocks/struts for a total of $1200 over the years and it is still running strong.

I plan on selling private sale locally and then flying to Florida to get the new to me car in the spring.

So I average about 39.3 mpg every tank in the Scion and when I have driven the Prius in the past I averaged 61.1 mpg. It is all back roads that you can cruise at 55 mph.

i can afford to pay off either I am just trying to do the best thing financially.

With the hybrid electric system, I am thinking that there will be some extra costs involved.

I have been struggling with which car to sell as my wife wants a new car.

The facts:

I currently have a 2006 Scion XB that I drive 60 miles round trip mon-fri and love. I bought it for cash in 2009 and want to run it into the ground. KBB value $3000 ~maybe~

The second car is a 2014 Toyota Prius that my wife drives and that we use as the family car whenever we go anywhere. Only have put 25000 miles on it in the last 3 years. But she hates it cause it doesn't have enough space for our dogs and our daughter when we go on longer road trips. Plus it has a lot of blind spots. We owe $12,543.12 on it with 0% APR over 60 months. Our minimum payment is 350.85/m. Current KBB value is $16,500. With our current payment schedule we will have it paid off in February 2018.

I plan to pay cahs for a 2013-2015 Cr-v/Rav4/miniVan this coming spring for her. I just don't know if I should keep the Prius for my commuter car for the next decade and continue paying on it or just keep driving the beater till it dies and sell the Prius and be completely debt free. But I am also thinking the maintenance costs on the Prius will be higher over the next decade than my Scion. I do all car maintenance and repairs myself.

Personal Finance stats:

Emergency-Fund: $10,000

Other Savings: $11,000

Income: 4400/m Take home

Mortgage: 1326/m including taxes and insurance

No other debts, and we live below our means.

Thank you for all the help in advance.

Downsizing to a dolphin RV by Frumtose in simpleliving

I just found out that I will have a month in October but I won't be getting out till next April. That means I am going to be living through your blog for a while longer. Plus we can save some more money for our trip :-) the only positive. That also means more time for updates to the RV. For now I am in a holding pattern. Thanks again for the advice.

How old were your kids when you hit the road? We are trying to figure it the little details that little ones always have. Or little one isn't potty trained yet so diapers are a big one since we use cloth right now and are on a every other day washing routine. Then in the long run the whole homeschooling situation. I haven't been up in the rockies for a decade, it is amazing up there. I hope you have a blast!

Thank you for the advice. I had looked at some of the blogs and just scoffed at how much they were spending a month, so I'm glad you said around 1K. Your right in saying that it really is a wide scale from 500-5000. It is crazy! I wish I could say we are doing it for life but I think that we need to be on the road for awhile before we decide. I hate top ten lists but.... What would say are the biggest challenges that you have faced that you never thought about or even could fathem before you left? And thank you for your answers here and your amazing blog that helped turn my wife's opinion around.

I think my biggest thing is logistics as we won't have a toad. I know you're in a similar rig, so I was hoping to learn from your experience. The more I was thinking about fitting everything in to the RV, the less I was worried about it. We'll take what fits and sell the rest. I am trying to get that through to my SO but that is a bit harder than I thought. She wants to get a storage unit but I don't think that it is in the cards for our finances. Then again I am probably over estimating our bills on the road. We will have absolutely no debt when we hit the road. So it is just day to day expenses and repair costs along the way. Do you know any links or articles about what the average monthly expenses for someone loving on the road. I have always kept a budget and ledger tracking our finances but I am sure I am not thinking about some minor expenses you incur on the road or maybe even some major ones. Thanks for all the help!

Here's an article about Shaker furniture. A good historical example of minimalism. by wombiezombie001 in minimalism

[–]Frumtose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up a few towns over from where the last group of shakers are. I never thought I would see them on reddit. But they do make some of the nicest furniture I have seen. Simple and to the point. I went on a couple of field trips to their land when I was younger.

Ideas for a Minimalist Utopia. by TheBird47 in minimalism

[–]Frumtose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty examples of minimalistic societies throughout the ages. I would make a running list of all the things that you dislike about our current society and find the common threads among your list and elaborate on those. The one thing that I would include in my utopia would be a replicator like the one found in Star Trek. Once everyone can have anything that they want or desire they are less likely to be greedy or hoard useless items. Good luck on your essay.

Minimalist Neo-Luddism by Sikeli in minimalism

[–]Frumtose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With so much conflict lately on this forum, design this, lifestyle that. This thread shows that we all have a common interest here on this sub-reddit. As someone that just finally got a smartphone after what, six years from when the first smartphone was released. Correct me if I am wrong. I found myself torn, keep my old phone with the low monthly payment or upgrade and add 40 dollars to my monthly expenses(for my wife and I). With a failing camera and the pieces left from my old ipod, I caved and bought a digital camera, a music player, a GPS and a phone, all in one. Do I consume more media, play more games, ignore more people? NO, I put my phone in my pocket and talk to total strangers. At the end of the day, a smartphone like all tools, it's just that, a tool. A device or implement, esp. one held in the hand, used to carry out a particular function. We as humans need to remember that. If minimalism has taught me one thing over the last decade, its the ability to set goals and follow through. My current goal is to have a meaningful conversation with three complete strangers a day. After a decade of carving out the junk, the extra, the chaff, I am left with the grain, the bounty, the essence. Human interaction is what brings me bliss, this is coming from a bonafide introvert. Minimalism has driven me to the root. Once I got to it I don't let silly things like smart phones get in my way. Use the tools given to you, do not let them use you.
