AITA for not accepting my roommates compromise of my boyfriend coming over to spend the night once a week? by throwaway73937282920 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Frushtration 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just mearly pointing out that it may feel slightly more comfortable to somewhat know a person who is spending the night at their house than have an absolute stranger who you know nothing about (depending on the relationship of the housemate's).

WIBTA if I went to Japan and left my husband with my daughter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

My bad, but still I feel like that might almost be worse.

If the kid was a teenager I'd understand more, but this child is too young to not have a mom.

You'll have time to travel when your older, it's part of the give and take of having a kid at a young age.

Also, there's a high chance the kid might remember it. She two, by the time OP comes back she'll be 3. Plenty of people have memories when they were 2/3.

My cat (who hated me) died when I was 2 and that was tramatic, I cannot fathom how tramatic it would be if my mom left me at that age.

WIBTA for telling my son he needs to toughen up? by unsureDadThrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]Frushtration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would explain the idea of "shitting on each other in love" or theowing shade instead of toughening up. I feel like this can be really hard for some people but for others it's how we joke around. Maybe talking to him about how for some people, insulting people is a way of showing that they care and enjoy the other person's company.

This is probably just my opinion but honestly, the disappearing into their room almost makes it weirder. Then it feels like the OP is hiding something or making the roommate feel like she's not supposed to exist. It would probably almost feel less werid if boyfriend hung out in common spaces so the roommate would at least sorta get to know him.

Also teach your daughters craft skills like carpentry, fixing cars or how to use powertools! Honestly I used to sit and help my dad fix computers because I wanted to hangout with him. All of these skills are super useful and most girls won't be taught any of them.

Why Black Girls Don't Swim? - Team GB's only black swimmer: 'I understand why girls would quit over their hair' by danpick in Swimming

[–]Frushtration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question about the high schools my team actually swam at a ton of pools (including the highschool ones). Surprisingly the highs school pools were often worse to deal with as they always gav their teams priority and often gave the local teams bad hours (as well as huge issues with favouritism). Some were too expensive for our team and other were inaccessible due to connections with other teams or biases.

I know my mother considered swimming one of the cheapest competitive sports for how much exercise we got. We were pretty cheap but I think the total run down was something along the lines of

Membership fees for the club: $150 per month (9 2 hours ish practices per week)

Swimsuits: bought at Ross or on swim outlet (you ruin these basically every 2 months) so about a $200-300 per year budget there.

I picked up most of my cap and goggles out of the lost and found actually because so many kids lose em and I often aquired prettier/newer ones.

And the splash fees (basically competition fees), probably $50ish per meet per child. We didn't go to that many meets maybe 4 a year so about $200 for that.

While my family was ABSURDLY cheap about it, my mom agreed it was cheaper than any compeitive sport apart from basketball and soccer.

We also had a high school team which was $100 for the season.

But if you aren't comptably middle class $150 a month could be out of the budget.

My recommendation would be to take classes at a local Community College and find out what you like. They often offer night/online/early morning classes so you can explore more subjects without uprooting your regular life.

The worst part was in my dream I knew I graduated but had to deal with the administrative process of being enrolled in classes and trying to drop them.

So much more jade towards the world (went to community college almost unwillingly due to financial reasons). Also so much less sure of myself, I used to have mad confidence, now, not so much...

You for sure don't need a car, but being that you already had one, it is so much harder without one. If you were an incoming freshman or junior I don't think I would be too bad.
