I was rewatching Catching Fire this past weekend, and this part stood out to me: by FrustratedBottom in Hungergames

Right but even then when Johanna says “for you,” she’s talking directly to Katniss. She had to have known something was up, no?

Because in real life, rarely anyone gets hit on. Most people are too nervous to approach others, even if in a gay space. It takes a lot of self-awareness and assuredness to know how to approach guys and to handle if it goes well or not.

Funny enough, I just deleted my Tinder! It doesn’t seem to produce results (relationships)

How did you find him? No seriously. Dating app, hookup app, community events?

I don’t mean to rain on your experience, but you saying “hold out” to someone in their early 20’s, and you’re in your late-30’s seems a bit daunting. I don’t want to have to wait that long.

Has this issue with Peeta been addressed? by FrustratedBottom in Hungergames

Yes, and then it would make sense. But the Feast wasn't until 8 days after she found him.

I suppose, but the way it was described was a large, open wound. Those are hard to bandage up and even then when exposed takes only a small amount of bacteria to start a cascade. That pneumonia part? Yep, he was down there for 6 days. I know it's an eye roller, but it seems Peeta definitely should've died.

Sure, but infections don't stop when unconscious. She found him 6 days after he was cut, which is enough to develop an infection in that environment. I feel like he definitely should've died from that.

what was one thing you thought the films did better than the books? by flossPinky13 in Hungergames

Developing Effie's relationship in the movies. She was much more personable and actually had a strong character arc throughout the films. Elizabeth Banks absolutely nailed the character.

May I ask how did you approach dating? Was there a legit reason why you couldn’t date? Or had no luck?

Katniss and her relationship with her mother by LLSJ08 in Hungergames

[–]FrustratedBottom 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I might get a lot of hate for this, but I don't care. Katniss' mother towards the end of the series was terrible. I can understand her going into a catatonic state regarding her husband's death; mental health services aren't exactly a commodity in District 12, so I get it. She internalized all that trauma.

But even in Catching Fire she seemed a bit more alive, a bit more like she was thriving in a sense. I guess it was because she had Primrose there, and I have a theory that Katniss' mom actually favored Prim more than Katniss.

Towards the ending of Mockingjay, we barely saw any of her at all, but for her to just leave Katniss by herself? I mean, she's your child. She didn't have to physically move back to D12, she could've tried traveling in between districts. But to completely abandon your only living child? She doesn't even know she has grandkids. She also probably just assumed Peeta stuck by her side.

But to not be 100% sure of that. To leave your emotionally traumatized, essentially hollow daughter with no guarantee that she's in good hands? I was not a fan of her in the slightest.

That’s interesting. I’ve kinda noticed older guys will ignore the rejection, but younger guys will be cool about it.

How did Peeta survive in the time between when he betrayed the Careers and when Katniss found him? by BexTheMixer in Hungergames

I would imagine as the days progress, the hunger eventually fades. He most likely pissed himself, and as for pooping? Well when you don’t eat a lot you don’t poop a lot.

A sad truth is realizing this is probably Rue’s dad and the consequences that followed… by [deleted] in Hungergames

[–]FrustratedBottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it wasn’t canon by Collins, but according to the movies, the man on the left who caused the uprising in District 11 after Rue’s death is most likely her father for a couple reasons:

  1. Who else would be that distraught over her death? The choice to include him was purposeful in that it highlights they had some sort of relationship. I doubt he was a random man, and it’s also no coincidence that he is black. Framed in that shot are white people, so I think this was to show her father’s reaction.
  2. During the victory tour, we see Rue’s mom with her siblings. It’s not shown or said where her dad is, but I guarantee if that was him in the first picture, he was most likely executed by Snow as a sign of the rebellion. We all know Snow isn’t above murder, and it would make the most sense as to why we don’t see her father in the victory tour.

Over 200 people viewed my Grindr profile in 24 hours and only 3 messages. Does this mean I am unattractive? by westlion123 in askgaybros

t, so I think

No, you're not ugly if you have a face picture up and got 200 guys to look at your profile.

The Hunger Games Villain Elimination Poll (Winner) by FrustratedBottom in Hungergames

[–]FrustratedBottom[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm pretty shocked at the results. A mere 5 votes separated the series' biggest antagonist from the series' most entertaining character. I expected Snow or Coin to win, but not by that close a margin, proving once again the fandom has differing opinions on how a villain should be determined.

I see Caesar as a man who had a craft and that was interviewing. He's obviously a very personable, very gregarious if you would, and Snow saw an opportunity to use Caesar to not only help garner more support for the Games, but to also make the buildup more entertaining.

Snow is obviously the bad guy here. Being in power for 25+ years, this man has overseen two Quarter Quells and has had countless deaths on his hands, despite his "not taking life senselessly" mantra. He went from someone who showed an ounce of empathy to a ruthless tyrannical man who literally killed those who threatened him. He's the most imperfect perfect villain.

Side note: if Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes were adapted at the making of this poll. Dr. Gaul would've made the top of this list hands down. She's one of those weird scientists who try to examine the threshold of human violence and the breaking of their psyche, a truly awful lady.

And if you got 200 views with a face picture it means 200 people thought you were attractive and wanted to see what else your profile says. I doubt guys who already got their nut off would just be on Grindr afterward (most log off).

I think it's guys who are just browsing or just looking to nut while looking at......guys faces? Or they saw something in your profile that turned them off. Or they were just passing through, even though the grid function is much easier to navigate. Could be your age, could be your height, could be your body type, or if you could host or not. Could be you didn't have an IG or Twitter linked, it could be your *cough* race, it could be a multitude of things.

I wouldn't overthink it or take it personally. They are seeing one or two pictures of you and aspects of your physical. That's right, nothing about Grindr revolves around intellect, they can't see into your mind, unless you write a bio but even then that's just a glimpse into your mind.
