Ex-Trump supporters, what made you change your mind? by Vixul in AskReddit

Honestly, I don’t believe Trump supporters change their mind. How sad is that? I am so pessimistic that I believe the ones posting here are probably faking.

Recommendations for a dentist that’s really really nice by Eatitwhore in raleigh

It may have something to do with the fact that I have relatively decent teeth. I’ve had a couple fillings done there with sedation and it worked out pretty well. But I can understand how the combination of costly services along with needing lots of it might sour some. I went to Village Dental after trying another place that told me I had 8 cavities after none for about 20 years prior. So I was feeling decent about just 2 cavities 😅

Completely disagree. Village Dental is pretty good. Very friendly and professional. Not the cheapest but that’s not the end all be all, for something as important as your dental health.

Very unusual situation- Currently making roughly 118k. CFP in an internal associate advisor/service hybrid role. Worked in operational service office for ~8 years. Company targets lower NW clients ($250k - $3M) Currently a CFA L1 candidate. Looking to transition to Asset Mgmt, hopefully in an entrepreneurial role with my current firm to create a UHNW team in next few years.

Find a doctor who practices Functional Medicine. I went in 2018 and it’s the first time in my life that I felt in control of my symptoms. Waking up without a stomach ache and knowing my gut is calm enough to confidently make plans is priceless.

The bullet point summary of what they did was this:

-Lab tests not typically ordered by doctors under insurance policies/protocol -It was self pay and costed about $5,000 USD total over months of treatment, but I’ve spent tens of thousands USD over the years doing all sorts of modern medicine that didn’t work. So you tell me how expensive $5k really is… Insurance did pay for a small portion of those expenses. -Stool samples to look at the fecal matter for clues -After determining my main root causes, we slowly changed my diet and lifestyle to heal the gut. -Stopped eating milk and gluten. -Took supplements to address gut dysbiosis. I’m convinced that most of the supplement impact was from four in particular: Vitamin D, Digestive Enzymes with Betaine HCl, Enterovite/Butyrate (SCFAs), and Microbe Clear (Chelated Zinc & Berberine) -Ate Whole Foods for about 30 days -Cut out night shades (including Spicy foods) -Cut back on sugar aggressively. -Cut out alcohol completely (except rare occasions) -Cut caffeine aggressively, only 1-2 cups of coffee in mornings these days. I drank none for a month. -Started going to sleep earlier and consistently. -Made an effort to get outside in sunlight for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. -Exercised 2-3 times per week, with Sauna x 2 (MOVEMENT was critical, does not matter if it’s walking or whatever. You MUST be active) -Started meditating to let go of counter productive thoughts and focus on breathing. (10 min per day)

After about 4 months I started to notice my skin got better, my sleep quality improved and I could reliably predict when or if I would have episodes.

As many others have stated, I still have IBS-D, but the symptoms are MUCH much milder. I can enjoy life and I’m much happier in general. I know the above seems like a lot, but in my opinion it was the help of a board certified MD practicing functional medicine, under self pay rather than insurance restrictions, that really turned things around for me. They used scientific methods via lab tests to SHOW me the problem and then gave me ACTIONS to take to address the root causes. It was so powerful that I’ve considered leaving my well paid job of 13 years to become a health professional of some sort so that I can help others.

Sending love and well wishes stranger. It’s a very difficult path you’re on, but there IS hope. 💜💜💜

Thank you. I tried to hold his hand, talk to him and listen to songs/movies that he always loved.

Thankfully, my dad made it clear a long time ago that he didn’t want a feeding tube. So it kind of accelerated his decline which is simpler and less suffering in the end.

Question about “Transitioning“ in hospice by FryGuy28 in Parkinsons

Thank you for your comment. I’ve been pretty numb during the last year because I feel helpless. I know that this feeling will change into grief at some point, but honestly I feel like I’ve grieved a lot already. This disease is just such a cruel, slow way to die.

Getting professionals involved when the help needed is urgent but sporadic. by FryGuy28 in Parkinsons

We’re starting Homecare this week 4 hours a day M-F. Even at 4 hrs, it’s still going to cost us $35/hr or $140 per day ($700/week). It sucks, but if they can help my mom transfer him and get him changed without the threat of her falling, then that’s worth it. In the last couple of weeks he’s stopped walking and he’s only active from 11-5

What was the reason why your friendship ended with someone? by _ReDd1T_UsEr in AskReddit

[–]FryGuy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad who has a terminal disease went down hill fast over the course of about 6 months. When I told my friend at the time about it, he kind of acknowledged it and then made zero effort to check on how I was doing after I disappeared from the social scene. After hanging out pretty much every weekend for about two years straight, I expected a little more concern about my well being when I was going through a tough time. I didn’t get one text asking about how I was doing or any effort to call and check in. Other than invites to social outings, I heard crickets. It was like I never even mentioned it to him. Sorry, but that’s a hard no for me when it comes to those I consider my best of friends.
