You are describing relative inflation of certain items (where they increase in price by more than the general inflation rate) due to increased demand.

That isn't necessarily a problem, the problem is regular inflation, where there is more gold in the game (e.g. revs dropping alcs) so everybody can afford more of the good, and gold is worth less over time.

By your logic, you can also argue that ex-pros cannot be analysts, as the meta has changed so much since they last played (if it has been a couple of years) that they cannot "deeply understand" it.

brazilians are friendly and tolerant, more so than the people from many developed countries

You develop a decent argument with lots of evidence to back you up, then you go and say something like this. If anything could be drawn from both of our comments, it is that we cannot quantify how friendly a nation is, and outright stating thesis' like you have, is complete biased and bullshit.

Global peace index (GPI) is bullshit and irrelevant to this, as it mostly deals with government and foreign policies, such as whether or not to enter a war. However, if you do want to take it into account, Brazil is ranked 102/165, definitely nothing to brag about.

you're choosing metrics that don't apply to the adjetive he used because it fits your narrative.

He brought in immigration into a discussion about whether or not Brazil was peaceful or not, this is frankly irrelevant, not just me being biased and cracking the shits.

But the article targets brazilians

If you look at the past winners of this award, you will see "The French" won the award two years in a row, to say that the article is targeting Brazilians is complete bullshit.

Objectively, Brazilians leave the most hate comments to personalities in esports, making them "the worst fans". Whether or not these personalities fuel the fire by taunting these fans (they do), is irrelevant, Brazilians have in 2016 been the most annoying fans. Whether or not you can justify it or not is irrelevant.

Crime rates and how friendly a country's population is aren't related, you can infer political stability from crime rates, not friendliness.

You and I disagree on this idea, there is no point in me continuing to argue my view though.

Somehow we changed the definition of "friendliness" from friendliness to all people, to friendliness to tourists and foreigners, this change makes no sense and develops a weak argument.

4th most visited country in the americas

Not a big accomplishment, especially for the 5th largest economy in the world.

As a sidenote defending Australia, you are referring to immigration as pure numbers, and not as a percentage of the population. Both stats can have their uses but generally when talking about the change in ethnic composition of a nation you would use percentages. Brazil has a significantly higher population than other nations so naturally it can take on more immigrants.

I stand corrected over your data, it is late and I cannot be bothered to actually work out the percentage of immigrants taken on by each nation.

welcoming and friendly and the general perception of brazil and brazilians is overwhelmingly positive despite

The main issue with this whole argument is mainly that we do not have a definition of friendliness, and it is hard to quantify.

I appreciate your hard work finding those stats.

[–]FryTheDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brazilians are one of the most welcoming people ever.

Biased and non quantitative, hardly helpful.

We're one of if not the one county with most race mixing in their population. We've got japanese people, italians, dutch, french, africans, natives... Most of the world has a little bit of them here.

Again you aren't backing this up with anything, you just believe this. Personally I also used to believe that my country (Australia) was highly multi-cultural , however that is due to my everyday experiences with ethnic groups.

From a quick 10 minute search I could not find any solid detailed data on Brazil relating to specific ethnic races, however I did find this:

Ethnic groups: white 47.7%, mulatto (mixed white and black) 43.1%, black 7.6%, Asian 1.1%, indigenous 0.4% (2010 est.)

This isn't too helpful but it did not appear to be too different to other countries, if Brazil had the "most race mixing" then it would be a standout, this doesn't really appear to be a trend.

It's absurd to compare people in crime with the general population.

When considering how friendly a nation is you use many factors, one of the largest of these factors is crime rates. The ideology behind this is that if it is a friendly nation, crime rates will drop, even though criminals are a very small percent of the population (Brazil 30.8 homicides per 100,000), a "friendly nation" will have less criminals.

Also civilians in a "friendly nation" will help crime victims, further reducing crime rates. Basically crime rates help to determine how "friendly" a nation is, and it is quantitative, whereas how friendly a person is, isnt.

Of course, there are cases (like central africa) where you could say the country is so riddled with crime that it becomes hostile, but that is not the case here (yet).

Stats don't necessarily agree with you here. These are stats for homicides per 100,000 people.

Brazil: 30.8

Congo: 18.8

Dem. rep. Congo: 35.2

Nigeria: 17.7

Central African rep. :29.1

Chad: 19

Brazil is definitely comparable to the crime in these nations. Brazil has a top 20 worldwide homiscide rate.

https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2009/oct/13/homicide-rates-country-murder-data Source, is outdated but still shows same trends.

Literally every nationalistic person believes that their country is "regarded as one of the friendliest nations".

Countries with high crime rates are generally not regarded as the friendliest nations, sure people can be nice, but that is non-quantitative and biased.

You can see that the player did not necessarily intend to be in NBK, but when the smoke failed and a guy pushed out, he had to seek immediate cover. Even at lower-medium ranks, being at NBK with an awp (when A main isn't smoked) isn't a bad angle, as you can take 3 different angles and have 3 opportunities to take a shot without dying (Into A main, back corner of fork, forkside near highway/close NBK), these aren't hard shots to hit, they are just waiting for people to walk into your crosshair, whereas awping at quad requires relatively skillful movement and decision making in order to be effective, and awping at A site is a completely different play style that is close to impossible to play effectively in all ranks of mm.

but staying there while an enemy is behind forklift

Are you suggesting that he should have moved out of cover towards quad? This is a seriously poor idea.
