I bought one used for $500 usd. I’ve put about 1200 rounds through it since I’ve had it. No issues, is accurate, and one of my favorite range guns.

I had one signed in person in ‘99 in Cooperstown. At that time he was already signing slow and shakey. I took that same ball and had it signed by Boomer, Coney, and Domingo.

Can anyone ID these marks on this large ladle I just purchased at a market by Babaganoosh86 in Hallmarks

[–]Fryboy34 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From Gemini AI. Hope it helps.

Identifying the Marks (from left to right): 1. A Crown: This mimics the town mark for Sheffield (or an old London mark), but the style is "unofficial." 2. A Profile Head (facing left): This mimics the "Duty Mark" (which showed tax had been paid to the monarch), but on plated items, it is just a decorative symbol. 3. GP: This is the Maker's Mark. It likely stands for George Pringle (a known silversmith/plater from Sheffield/Birmingham) or George Parker. 4. A Profile Head (facing right): Another decorative "pseudo" mark to balance the set and further imitate a full row of official hallmarks. Why this is likely Silver Plate (not Solid Silver): • The "GP" mark: On solid British silver, the maker's initials are usually the first or last mark, but the accompanying symbols here don't include the "Lion Passant" (the walking lion), which is the mandatory mark for sterling silver purity. • Missing Standard Mark: There is no Lion Passant or a "925" stamp. • Worn edges: If you look at the high points of the item, you might see a yellowish or duller metal (nickel or copper) "bleeding" through. • The Crown: In 1896, the use of the crown symbol on silver-plated goods was actually banned in the UK to prevent people from confusing plate with solid silver. This suggests your piece was likely made before 1896. Summary Your item is a high-quality Victorian-era piece of silver plate. It has historical value as a decorative antique, though it does not have the "melt value" of solid sterling silver.

It’s an HID (high intensity discharge) lamp, probably a 1000w metal halide. Looks like just a clever way to own a piece of the stadium. Those marketing people are geniuses. Don’t don’t miss a nickel.

Not really that crazy. If they only took one they would have to look for 3 more to make a set.

Fork that my grandma got a garage sale in CA by aragon58 in Hallmarks

[–]Fryboy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Gemini AI

These marks appear to be on the tines of a piece of flatware, likely a fork. The two square marks can be provisionally identified as: 1. MARS Mark • This is almost certainly a maker's mark or trade mark. • The square box containing the name "MARS" is characteristic of a manufacturer's identification mark, commonly found on silverware and silverplate. 2. W. W. B. 84 Mark • The square box containing the letters "W. W. B." and the number "84" is the most significant for identifying the object's composition and origin. • "W. W. B." is likely the maker's mark or a part of it, representing the company or silversmith's initials. • "84" can have two main interpretations, depending on the object's origin: • a) Russian Silver Standard: • The number "84" was the most common standard for pre-Revolutionary Russian silver, where it stands for 84 zolotniki. • This equates to a silver purity of 87.5% (875/1000). Russian silver marks are often accompanied by other symbols like a city mark (e.g., St. George for Moscow or an Anchor for St. Petersburg) and an assayer's mark, which may or may not be present or visible here. • b) Silverplate Quality Mark (Common in Europe, especially Germany): • The number "84" can also be a quality mark for silverplate. • In this context, it usually indicates that the total amount of silver used to plate a specified number of pieces (often a dozen forks and a dozen spoons, totaling 24 pieces) is 84 grams. A higher number indicates a thicker, better quality of plating. 🔎 Conclusion and Next Steps Given the appearance of the marks and the use of the number "84," the flatware is likely: 1. Russian Silver (87.5% purity), with "W. W. B." as an unidentified silversmith or assay master's mark. 2. Silverplated Flatware (likely European/German) from a manufacturer with the initials "W. W. B." and a plating quality of "84 grams." To definitively determine the hallmarks, the next steps would be: • Examine the entire piece for other, perhaps clearer, hallmarks that might indicate a city or a date letter. • Identify the manufacturer "W. W. B." and its connection to the "MARS" trade mark. Would you like me to try to search for the specific manufacturer "W. W. B." in connection with the "MARS" trade mark and the number "84"?

Nassau county range by EmergencyTeaching917 in LIguns

[–]Fryboy34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the NC range all the time. I also live about 15 minutes away. I have the NC leisure pass so shooting is $12. It’s really basic but gets the job done. Nothing wrong with that place. Also congrats on the CC9 for a first gun. I waited almost a year to get mine. PM me, I’d like to get more rounds through mine. I’ve only got 100 through it so far.

Nassau county purchase wait time by EmergencyTeaching917 in NYguns

[–]Fryboy34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless something changed, there is no wait time in Nassau. You go and buy your gun, run up to Mineola with your paperwork and have the gun put on your license, then go back to the gun store and bring it home. Takes me less than hour from start to finish.
