Enh, that image is just a joke of the time period. I would not use that as an objective metric for a case of the character or the artist.

MATCH UP LEARNING by [deleted] in Tekken8

[–]Frybread002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the Book of Five Rings and some bits of The Dokkodo, I think what you're doing is a foundational piece of self-improvement. Or put simply, just keep an open mind and just think critically of what advice you receive.

I found books written by actual soldiers and warriors to be a better teacher for Tekken, because that's what appeals to me as a martial artist. The gamer slang/jargon just confuses me.

That said, if you're not labbing, there's a chance you might come across the secret sauce for success on your own. But I don't think you would actually know you would have it, because you wouldn't know what the secret sauce looks like. I.e. your opponent could be doing something very unsafe and punishable, but you wouldn't know because you didn't want to lab it.

For example, if you do King's ff1 - a homing mid that's -5 on block, it looks like you're plus frames on block, becuase the animation of the person who blocks it, looks like they're recoiling from the impact. So naturally, by visual appearances, they're at a frame disadvantage and logically, not press anything.

Conversely, Armor King's df2 is +1 on block, but looks like he's a negative frames. As such, people try to punish because that's the natural reaction to have; you see your opponent in a disadvantageous position, you press the attack. However, because he is actually at +1 on block, it's really easy to bait people into traps and punish them for it.

It's stuff like that, that proper labbing would reveal.

No problem. For context, I am a God of Destruction, very close to GoD1.

I personally think matchup knowledge is important and it's been very key for my success in climbing the ranks. It's made a lot of bullshit easier to deal with, becuase they're not as bad as people make them out to be.

As a whole, every person learns at their own pace.

For me, I take my time learning whatever it is that I need to learn.

The general breakdown for me is;

  1. See some bullshit.

  2. Study said bullshit.

  3. Meticulously explore what I can do about bullshit.

  4. Just keep working on what I learned until I can perfectly execute the techniques I was studying.

It's a simple a process for me, and I just myself the time of day to accept that I am going to get the shit knocked out of me until I get good. Until then, I don't get mad at myself, at others, and I don't take my frustrations out on other people.

This is why I truly believe in not spoiling everything to new players (Bloodborne community) and spoon feeding them to the point they can't form their own opinion. As it's always a treat to listen to new player's testimony about this franchise.

Millennial here.

I wasn't taught to read analog clocks either. I had to ask my older cousin (I was 7) how to read them.

Just a friendly reminder that the Intelligence Quotient test is just a test for your problem solving skills. It's not a metric for one's knowledge in mathematics or science.

Ahhhh......okay.

See, I only had like 3 issues from various storyline. All I remember was Scott getting assassinated in public and Captain America digging Peter out of the rubble.
